Chapter 354

"Okay" Lily mumbled. She felt fine, perfectly fine. Melanie, however, was restless. She worried about the finals' theme. Frank couldn't provide any information.

He explained that he couldn't obtain information about the finals' theme; it was decided personally by the judgeโ€”most likely Mr. Parker. The organizers hadn't released this information, so Frank didn't know the judge for this round. Therefore, he couldn't use his connections to learn the theme beforehand. Without this crucial information, Melanie lacked confidence. More accurately, she felt like a student who would fail an exam without cheating.

Soon, she feared embarrassing herself nationwide. She needed to find Frank to discuss their next plan. Even if she couldn't win the championship, she wouldn't let Lily, that bitch, win. However, she'd been knocking on Frank's door for a while, with no answer.

She tried calling him, but he didn't answer. Her unease grew. Her gut told her something was wrong.

"Aside from some minor cuts, she's fine," the doctor told Alexander, removing his stethoscope.

"Really?" Alexander remained skeptical. Though he wanted Lily healthy, he couldn't rest easy without a thorough check.

"Mr. Russell, rest assured, I've given Mrs. Russell a detailed examination, and everything seems normal. If Mrs. Russell still feels unwell, I suggest an in-depth CT scan or MRI."

"No, no, I'm okay, thank you!" Lily interjected. "I'm not feeling unwell."

The doctor gave Alexander an "I told you so" look. Alexander finally conceded, nodding. "Did you examine the other lady?"

"Yes. The drug is almost entirely cleared from her system, and she'll regain consciousness in a few minutes. If you're unconvinced, we can examine her thoroughly after she's awake," the doctor clarified, stealing a few confused glances at Lily. "Erm"

"Is something wrong?" Alexander asked urgently, noticing the doctor's gaze. His heart skipped a beat; worry returned.

"Nothing, really," the doctor shook his head, but after a moment, voiced his concern. "Mrs. Russell and Ms. Schmidt were both drugged, correct? Strangely, I couldn't detect any residue of the same drug in Mrs. Russell's body."

Lily paused, then smiled. "Maybe my metabolism is excellent. That's why you found nothing? Didn't you say the drug in Giselle's system was almost cleared? Maybe my system is simply stronger."

The doctor hesitated, then nodded. "It's not impossible. It would mean you have a faster metabolism than a grown man."

"I guess. I'm not sure," Lily offered her most innocent smile. The doctor tilted his head, staring at her for a moment. Then, seemingly accepting her explanation, he left without comment. Alexander sat beside her, studying her carefully before asking again, "Are you really sure you're okay?"
