Chapter 379
Lily unconsciously glanced at Alexander before answering Olivia. "Nope, why?"
Olivia sighed in relief. "Looks like he doesn't have your number."
"Yeah," Lily agreed.
"He called me yesterday asking if I have your number. I asked him what for, but he refused to tell me. However, he sounded uneasy, and I was worried he'd cause you trouble. You didn't give him your contact details, right?" Olivia asked, trying to ease her worry.
Lily rolled her eyes. "Why would I do that? I'm already kind enough not to have blocked him."
"I'm glad to hear that. I didn't give Nate your number either, so don't worry. Still, with today's technology, if he genuinely wanted to obtain your number, he would be able to. I feel so relieved after informing you about this. It's good that you're aware that he's looking for you. I was worried he might be up to no good."
After Olivia finished her call with Nathaniel, she immediately called Lily to inform her. Olivia tried asking Nathaniel why he was looking for Lily, but he only kept urgently asking for her number. Judging from his usual behavior, it didn't seem good, so Olivia refused to give him Lily's number. However, knowing Nathaniel, he wouldn't give up easily.
"It's all right. Let's not worry about him for now," Lily suggested.
She wasn't afraid of Nathaniel, even if he was looking for trouble. Lily knew him well enough to know he wasn't capable of anything dangerous.
"Okay, take care of yourself. I can't wait for you to get back." Olivia, unaware Lily was with Alexander, kept reminding her to be careful.
"Don't worry. I'll be back soon."
Lily hung up and noticed Alexander had been staring at her, untouched his food the entire time. She touched her face. "Why are you staring at me? Is there something on my face?"
"Is there a problem?" Alexander asked straightforwardly.
Lily shook her head. "No, everything's fine."
She realized she didn't care much about Nathaniel anymore. Perhaps it was because so much had happened, or because they had broken up a long time ago and she no longer loved him. It was just a hazy dream. Waking up, Lily realized he'd been a small part of her life, and there was no need to dwell on the past. It didn't matter how much he tried to create a scene; to Lily, he was merely making a fool of himself. She had no feelings left for him whatsoever.
Alexander didn't press the issue, accepting her words. Instead, he asked, "Are you full?"
Although Lily hadn't eaten much, the stew was filling, and she had finished the steak he'd cut for her. It was plenty.
After settling the bill, Alexander and Lily got into the car, ready to leave.
"Are we going back to Bryxton?" Lily asked, buckling her seatbelt.
Alexander was about to answer when his phone rang. For the past few days, while in Roseroot, his phone had been unusually quietโa surprise to Lily, as he was always swamped. If he hadn't taken her out today, she would have thought he was trying to reinvent himself from a scary, hardworking tycoon into a wealthy playboy.
The real reason for the quiet phone was that Alexander had muted it. He didn't want work to interrupt their quality time together. He only answered important calls or work-related matters, ignoring the rest.
His phone was ringing now because it wasn't a regular call; it was a WhatsApp video call. His phone was beside him, so they both looked down at the screen simultaneously. The caller ID read: "Brittany."
