Gritting his teeth, Nathaniel confronted Lily directly: "Lily, is there someone else? Is that why you've refused to return to me?"

He's just an assistant, and that's as far as he'll go. He's nothing without Mr. Russell! I, on the other hand, will be big. Look at our new products—profits will double by year's end, and we'll list our shares. Lily, we'd have a brighter future. Edward Sullivan offers only short-term benefits. Would Rebirth or La Beauté Group take his orders? He's nothing without Mr. Russell. If he's fired, he's worthless! Wake up and come back to me!"

Nathaniel's intensity was palpable. Lily, gazing out the window, fought back laughter at his absurdity. It was a major misunderstanding! He mistook Edward for her boyfriend, just as Olivia had.
