Chapter 485
Brandon frowned impatiently. "Brittany, are you crazy? I'm your biological brother! What are you saying?"
Brittany was furious. "You're not my brother!" she yelled. "If you were, you wouldn't be saying this! You'd tell me who that bitch is! Is she from the Mitchell family? Or some other family?"
She began making random guesses, considering eligible women around their age from prominent families. Many were in arranged marriages. The Oakleys weren't bad, though far inferior to the Russells. Compared to others, Brittany considered herself a desirable match—pretty, with on-screen experience, and a long-standing acquaintance with Alexander. Why hadn't he chosen her? It had to be her!
"Don't guess," Brandon said, trying to stem her wild thoughts. "I'm sure you don't know her. I don't either. I doubt she's from a prominent family; I've never met her. Besides, Alexander truly loves her. Don't do anything to her. If you upset him, I can't protect you."
He meant it. Alexander had made it clear that his limits were not to be tested.
Alexander had a reputation for being sinister and fierce, but Brandon knew better. Years of acquaintance had revealed a more easygoing man beneath the cold exterior. Nevertheless, he wouldn't let Brittany repeatedly harass Alexander or speak vilely about him. Everyone has limits, and those shouldn't be crossed. No matter how kind someone is, pushing them too far will unleash their ruthless side. Brittany refused to listen.
Her sole focus was discovering Alexander's new woman. "Doesn't matter if I know her or not. Tell me who she is. Do you have a picture?"
Brandon shook his head. "Would Alexander let me take her picture?" he asked, worried she wouldn't believe him.
Brittany found his reasoning logical but remained unsatisfied. "Then what does she do? You must know."
"How much do you think I know? Just seeing her was difficult. I'm not lying! This is for your own good. You're a catch, Brittany. Finding a good man won't be hard. Don't keep banging your head against the same wall. Look at me"
"You hit every wall to see which one gives way?" Brittany retorted coldly.
Brandon was speechless.
"No, I have your best interests at heart," he said, stubbing out his cigarette. He straightened. "I'll introduce you to some eligible men from our circle. If none appeal to you, I'll search Hyderland—no, the world—until you're satisfied. How about that?"
Brittany gave him a cold look and turned away. "There's only one man I'm interested in: Alexander!"
Brandon watched, helpless, as she left his office without looking back. Her mood was dreadful. Despite her mental preparations, hearing the confirmation from her brother was devastating. Alexander had another woman! And he was engaged! How could this be?
