Chapter 511

Lily pondered what to say, and whether to ask Alexander anything, when he approached. He tapped his phone several times, then put it down and asked, "Have you heard about Brittany?"

Lily was shocked. Why is he always so direct?

Nodding, she replied frankly, "I've heard about Ms. Oakley, but I don't know her first name."

Alexander waved her over and pulled her to sit down. He then said bluntly, "Her name is Brittany, and she's Brandon's younger sister. You remember, the one who climbed the wall at our house last time and mooched food?"

"Oh, that guy!" Lily recalled who he meant.

She thought the siblings were quite funny: one climbed the wall, got electrocuted, and still freeloaded; the other attempted bribery but targeted the wrong person. No wonder they're siblings. Half their brains are probably empty, she mused.

"Don't you want to know who she is?" Alexander had wanted to tell Lily the story, but her lack of interest disappointed him. "She's not jealous at all?"

"Didn't you just tell me about her?" Lily blinked. Alexander had already explained; what more was there to ask?

Alexander, dissatisfied, didn't know what to say. "Aren't you jealous?"

"Why should I be? Is she your ex-girlfriend?"

"What if she was?" Alexander said pointedly, wanting to see Lily's reaction.

Lily nodded. "Oh."

"Oh?" Alexander thought he'd misheard, or that something was wrong with Lily. Did she think a simple "oh" would suffice?

"Lily, honestly, do you even like me?" Alexander turned, took her hands, and looked earnestly into her eyes.

What does that mean? Lily nodded honestly. "Of course I do!"

Of course she liked him. Why else would she marry him? Why else would she stay with him?

"If you do, won't you mind other women being around me? You don't mind me having an ex-girlfriend? You don't mind having a rival?" That, he thought, was what all women cared about most. But Lily's reaction was too bland.

Lily finally understood. Seeing his affronted expression, she laughed, gently pulled her hands away, and pinched his face. "You silly! I don't mind. It would have to be someone truly awesome for me to be jealous. It's in the past, so why would I care? You wouldn't have married me if she were that important to you." After a pause, she added, "Besides, on your terms, how weird would it be for you not to have an ex-girlfriend?"

Alexander was quiet, looking conflicted. He made a fist, put it to his lips, and coughed twice.

Lily, noticing this, asked, "Are you okay?" Then, a thought struck her. "You don't have an ex-girlfriend?!"

How can that be possible?! Even without his qualifications and wealth, his handsomeness alone would attract women. Add his family background and wealth, and many would envy him. How could he still be single?

"So what? I was waiting for you," Alexander mumbled, his cheeks suspiciously flushed.
