Chapter 529
"Fine! I'll do it!" Nathaniel thundered.
Arianna stopped and turned. "I'll do it. I'll work with you," Nathaniel repeated, struggling to rise from his bed as glass bottles tumbled to the floor. "What do you want me to do?"
Arianna smiled. "Don't worry. I have something good for you." She walked toward him. "I have a group of henchmen who handle things for meโa sort of organization. However, some matters are inconvenient to discuss now. I'll need your help with those."
"To put it bluntly, you want me to do your dirty work," Nathaniel chuckled. He hadn't expected such ruthlessness from Arianna.
"Don't say that. Who decides what's 'dirty'? As long as you achieve your goals, nobody cares how you do it," Arianna said disapprovingly. "Look at the Russells' empire. Do you think Alexander's hands are clean? The Tanners, the Richards in Kingslandโwho dares claim innocence?"
"Okay, I'm not arguing, and I didn't say no, but why me? You have a whole group."
He wondered, Would she really trust me with that kind of power?
As if reading his thoughts, Arianna said, "You don't have to worry. I'm confident I have everything under control. I just have too much to do and need help."
"What's in it for me?" A collaboration required mutual benefit.
"Well, my organization is small but elite. Besides conveying my orders, you can utilize them, within reason. And I'll give you a share of the Tanner family assets when we're done. Isn't that better than starting from scratch?"
Arianna's offer was tempting, but Nathaniel remained skeptical. "You're willing to share the Tanner family assets with me?"
"If I can get everything, sharing some with you is a small price," Arianna shrugged.
"You want everything?!" Nathaniel was shocked. He'd assumed she wanted a portion. Family asset disputes were common, but he hadn't anticipated this level of greed.
With a sarcastic smile, Arianna turned, saying unhurriedly, "Since I've decided to fight, I'll go all out. Otherwise, what's the point?" She continued, "What's wrong with being a woman? They think women can't handle the family business. Well, I'll prove them wrongโand do it better!" Her eyes gleamed with vindictiveness.
Since childhood, her academic excellence and innovative ideas had been dismissed by her father, Joseph, simply because she was a woman. She intended to take everything so her father's illegitimate son wouldn't get a dime. And her uncle's useless, wood-carving son, too. She wanted to show everyone her strength.
"Either way, it will benefit you to help me," she said confidently. "Wouldn't it be easy to turn your life around with the right resources?"
After considering this, Nathaniel asked cautiously, "Aren't you afraid I'll betray you like the others?"
