Chapter 528

"Whether we're willing to admit it or not, we're blood relatives," Arianna said.

Her mother believed Arianna was unaware of her half-brother—a son from her mother's previous marriage—but this was untrue. Arianna's father also knew. They kept silent, maintaining the façade of a harmonious Tanner family to avoid ridicule and because they needed their mother as the family's matriarch. Since her mother showed no intention of bringing her son into the family, her father chose to ignore the situation.

Nathaniel Hall disagreed. "In that case, why don't you go to your younger brother? At least he shares your father." Nathaniel wasn't swayed by Arianna's appeal to familial bonds; siblings often clashed, rendering such appeals meaningless.

"I know you distrust me," Arianna said. "I'm approaching you not just because you're my brother, but because you pose no threat. My younger half-brother—our father is the same—is about to be brought into the Tanner family by our father, and he intends to take over the family business. Do you think I want to work with him?"

Nathaniel was surprised by Joseph's intentions, but concealed his astonishment. He shrugged. "Who knows? You might enjoy having a younger brother."

"What the hell are you talking about?" Arianna exploded, grabbing his collar and pulling him close. "Once that bastard joins the family, his mother will follow. I'll lose my position, and our mother—do you think she'll be able to maintain her control? If she fails, Nathaniel, your life will be ruined!"

Releasing him with a disgusted push, Arianna continued, "Oh, I forgot! Perhaps you don't want that chance. Maybe you prefer to remain a coward, hiding in your corner, drowning in your sorrows. And another thing: Is Lily Christian your ex-girlfriend?"

Nathaniel's eyes lit up at the mention of Lily.

"She's marrying Alexander Russell, president of La Beauté Group," Arianna sneered. "Meanwhile, you're left to cry in a corner. I despise you." She brushed her hands as if removing dirt, then turned away. "Continue as you are, but if our mother is forced out of the Tanner family, you'll have nowhere to hide."

A contemptuous smile played on Arianna's lips as she looked around.
