Chapter 557

Lily didn't know who was on the other line, but George kept watching her while he spoke. "All right, I'll ask her about it," he said.

Lily felt it concerned her.

George looked at her and said, "I think you might be right." Knowing her background, he couldn't impose his views, even if he wanted to. More importantly, the phone call had changed his mind. Perhaps they could focus on custom-made perfumes.

"What?" Lily asked, confused.

George clasped his hands. "Do you know who just called? Eloise Neville, the actress who won Best Actress. She was a superstar before marrying into the Tanner family."

Lily was surprised. "Yes, I've heard of her."

She knew about Eloise's relationship with Nathaniel, but why was she calling?

"She wants a custom-made perfume and to meet you personally. How does tonight sound?" George asked.

Lily hesitated. "I don't think I can accept her request. She should find another perfumer."

George was surprised by her rejection. He'd expected her to readily agree. "Why? You said you prefer custom orders to mass production. I respected your opinion. Now you're refusing a famous, high-profile client? Success with her would secure your position. I don't understand."

He continued, "I know you're not about the money, but you work for our company. Think about the company's future, not just your preferences." His eagerness to persuade her made him blunt.

Lily wasn't offended. She remembered she worked for Rebirth, and even with her own lab and brand, it was still part of Rebirth. She couldn't just choose projects based on her preferences.

George had always been kind to her, even if it wasn't for Alexander. After a moment, she changed her mind. "All right, I'll see her. But I can't guarantee success."

George was relieved. "Great! As long as you're willing to meet, I'm sure it will go well!" Eloise's direct request showed significant interest. He believed the collaboration would likely succeed.

At 6 p.m., a car waited outside the lobby. The window was down, and a beautiful face appeared. "Hello, Ms. Christian."

Lily recognized Eloise Neville instantly—a face she'd seen countless times on TV and in Justin's information. She was surprised Eloise had come in person. Even if Lily changed her mind, escaping seemed unlikely.
