Chapter 585
Lily knew this game was challenging for beginners, but child's play for her. However, she wasn't bullying; she simply needed the raw materials. The game's results were undeniable: Lily won decisively. The onlookers were stunned; they hadn't anticipated such a dominant victory.
Lily, unconcerned, retrieved the box from Kasey. "Remember your promise. I'll collect the goods in two days." The little girl was speechless.
Kasey, while appreciating Lily's expertise, hadn't expected such an easy win. Even Kasey doubted Lily's ability beforehand. Now, she viewed Lily in a new light.
Before Kasey could fully process her admiration, Rachel exclaimed, "Hold up!" As the apparent leader, someone immediately blocked Lily's path.
"What's wrong? Are you reneging?" Lily asked, turning to face them, fearless. She would reciprocate respect, but wouldn't tolerate transgression.
"Of course not," Rachel replied, approaching Lily. It was her first good look at Lily; she didn't recognize her. While not knowing everyone in the perfume industry, Rachel recognized most prominent perfumers. Lily was a stranger.
"Aren't you from Kingsland?" she asked.
Lily laughed. "Why? What's that got to do with anything?"
"Nothing. But..." Rachel paused. "He's no match for you. Will you compete with me instead?"
Someone intervened, "Rachel... your grandma wouldn't..."
"Shush!" Rachel silenced him with a glance. After studying Lily, Lily smiled faintly. "Why should I compete with you?"
"What? Scared?" Rachel sneered. "I thought you were brave and capable. A coward, then?"
"If you say so," Lily replied, finding the competition pointless. She was far more interested in her newly acquired ingredient. She'd rather study the grass than play childish games.
"Stop right there!" Rachel shouted, unwilling to let Lily leave so easily. Eric's loss didn't matter; her pride was at stake. The rematch wasn't just about pride; it was about bolstering her confidence.
Rachel had always considered herself gifted. She'd learned much from her uncle and never lost to her peers. She believed a top perfumer's destiny awaited her. She wouldn't let Lily escape so easily. This was a rare worthy opponent.
"I thought you understood the concept of 'admitting defeat'?"
