Chapter 663
"Yes!" Henry blurted, then quickly corrected himself. "No, that's not what I meant. You created the poisonous candles, so how could anyone else have them? He only told me you were disrespectful to Grandpa"
Lily interjected, pressing him. "You said he gave you evidence earlier, didn't you? Why are you changing your story now?"
Henry was dumbfounded.
"Well then!" Lily took a deep breath and declared, "The chaos ends now!" She closed her eyes, appearing to meditate, then turned to Henry. "Since you insist I poisoned Grandpa, I'll prove it's impossible!"
"How?" Henry asked instinctively.
Lily smiled, stepping closer. "Uncle Henry, does my perfume smell nice?"
The unexpected question caused Henry to instinctively sniff, but her smile made him suspicious. He quickly held his breath and demanded angrily, "What are you trying to do?"
"No need to be nervous. I can't poison you openly with so many people around, can I?" Lily smiled innocently.
It made sense, but Henry remained wary, keeping his distance and avoiding breathing deeply. "Get to the point. Why the mystery?"
Lily grinned, staring into his eyes. "You won't even come close enough to smell my perfume. If I could put poison in my perfume, why waste time making so many poisonous candles, leaving evidence? Do I look that stupid to you?"
Henry's mind raced. "You couldn't use a highly potent poison; it would be too obvious. If I hadn't returned and noticed something was wrong, you would have tricked us all. Everyone would have thought Dad died of old age and illness."
The surrounding elders considered his accusation reasonable, uncertain who to trust.
Lily nodded. "Oh right, chronic poisoning! You mean I added a small amount of chronic poison to the candles, and it finally worked after weeks or months?" She circled Jonathan and Henry.
Influenced by Henry, Jonathan subconsciously covered his nose, fearing a lethal scent. I regret letting her get so close. What if she did put poison in her perfume?
"Enough!" Henry waved his hand abruptly. "Stop toying with everyone! Stop the nonsense! We have the evidence; your denial is pointless!" He grabbed Lily's wrist, his eyes blazing with fury.
Unshaken, Lily met his gaze, her fingers moving. She smiled. "You'll get a headache being so belligerent. Uncle Henry, are you dizzy?" She winked playfully.
Henry was confused by her words and wink, but then a dizziness and blurred vision washed over him. Though fleeting, the sensation panicked him. "What have you done?"
