Chapter 664
"I didn't do anything! Since you're so upset, I was wondering if you feel dizzy or nauseous," Lily asked calmly. "Do you?"
The onlookers, unaware of the situation, might have even thought she was expressing concern for Henry.
Henry had felt fine until Lily mentioned those symptoms. Then, a sudden headache and nausea struck him—a feeling he couldn't describe. He fought to maintain clarity, but the dizziness was overwhelming. Shocked, he quickly released her hand.
"You! What have you done to me?!"
Everyone saw the change in Henry's expression. Although they didn't know what Lily had done, their fear was palpable. They recoiled, panicked at the possibility of being affected.
This was especially true for Jonathan, who was closest to Lily and completely bewildered. Seeing Henry stagger, he felt dizziness himself and quickly retreated.
After regaining his composure, he rebuked, "Lily! What the hell are you doing?!"
Jonathan was practically roaring. His anxiety was uncontrollable; he sensed events spiraling out of his control. He never imagined the demure Lily could send chills down his spine with a simple smile.
"Granduncle Jonathan, what are you talking about? What could I possibly do with so many people around?" Lily asked innocently, shrugging and holding her hands open.
Despite her harmless appearance, everyone regarded her as a monster, too terrified to speak. They had witnessed the change in Henry's expression.
"I just wanted to show you there are a hundred ways to poison someone without leaving a trace. No need for clumsy methods that leave evidence," Lily said, dusting her clothes and looking at Henry. "As for you you just smelled something that affected your appetite and sense of smell. You'll be fine soon."
Her words were light, but no one relaxed their guard. They stared at her in horror.
"You did you poison us?" someone whispered, trembling.
"Uncle Max, it's not poison, just an unusual scent. I'm sure you've all encountered it. I wouldn't bother with such a clumsy method." Her implication was that poisoning was beneath her.
"No wonder your grandfather died soon after your return. You could have poisoned him in other ways, even without the candles. I didn't know you were so knowledgeable about poisons. Who else could be the culprit?" Henry, feeling slightly better, immediately accused her.
Lily's attempt to prove her innocence had backfired, becoming evidence of her guilt. He refused to relent.
Lily looked up, laughed, and pointed at Henry. "I've shown you mercy repeatedly, for Grandpa's sake. But if that's how it is"
Her gaze sent a fresh wave of panic through Henry. He looked toward the garden where his men waited, ready to intervene if things went wrong.
"Lily, who else could have poisoned your grandfather? Or do you have an accomplice?" Jonathan asked, tapping his cane on the ground.
