Chapter 754
"The hospital," Jenny said bluntly. "I mean, you should verify it, right? At least you'll know what to do."
After a moment of silence, Lily quietly replied, "I didn't go to the hospital."
"You were afraid to? Need some company? This is so unlike you. No matter what, it's better to know, right?"
Lily bit her lip. "It's not that. I already tested it myself."
"Then?" Jenny asked immediately. "Are you really pregnant?"
Lily's hesitant expression answered the question. She nodded, visibly conflicted. "Yes."
"Oh my God!" Jenny exclaimed. "That means I'm supposed to congratulate you?"
Under normal circumstances, Jenny would have offered congratulations, but Lily had just started her studio and begun accepting orders. Pregnancy meant giving all that up. Should Jenny congratulate her or lament the child's inopportune arrival?
"I have no idea," Lily said. "I never thought this would happen now. Besides, I'm not ready. I don't even know if my body's in good enough condition. I've been in contact with so many ingredients and chemicals; I wonder if it'll affect the child." With her secret revealed, Lily poured out her worries, though some feelings remained pent-up.
"You shouldn't worry too much," Jenny said. "Just ask the doctor. The main question is whether you want to keep it or not." She'd gotten straight to the most critical question, the one Lily had been struggling with: Should she keep the child?
"Mr. Russell doesn't know, does he?" Jenny asked, her guess confirmed by Lily's reaction.
Lily gave a helpless look. "How do you know everything?"
"Please! I can tell by your expression." Jenny placed a hand on Lily's shoulder, thoughtfully analyzing the situation. "If it were up to me, I'd suggest keeping the childโit's your baby, after all. There's no need to rush things at the studio; you can take your time. Besides, you're not desperately short of money. Knowing you're a workaholic, I know it's hard for you to put your work aside, huh?"
Jenny was right; Lily was struggling to decide. That's why she hadn't told Alexander. She was unsure of his reaction and whether he would welcome the baby. Even if he did, she hadn't decided whether to keep it.
"You better think it through," Jenny said. "But don't drag your feet, okay?"
Olivia entered, catching the tail end of the conversation. "Drag your feet over what?"
"Mopping the floor?" Jenny said, glancing at Olivia with a suppressed laugh. "No way. The delivery today made the floor so dirty! It has to be properly mopped."
"Yeah, yeah," Olivia replied. "The floor has to be properly mopped."
Jenny turned back to Lily. "Anyway," she said, "you shouldn't drag your feet on certain matters. And you should tell him; he has a right to know."
