Chapter 767
"What happened to Benedict?" she frowned, concerned. "Didn't you say he disappeared? Has there been any news?"
Although she didn't take Benedict seriously, he was a direct descendant of her uncle and still recognized by upper management. He had worked at the company until his rebellion, even helping Derrick manage affairs for a time. Arianna likely wouldn't have had her opportunity without his insistence on wood carving instead of business. Therefore, she was uneasy about potential updates regarding him.
"Well," Eloise said, her face dignified, nodding slightly, "I heard Benedict passed away."
"Passed away?" Arianna was speechless, then asked, "Mom, is it true?"
"Eighty percent," Eloise replied, after a moment. "Your father isn't certain, so he hasn't said anything. However, your uncle's health has been poor for two days. I suspect his time is near."
"Dad was planning to announce Benedict's death at the management meeting?"
The news was shocking. She paced, rubbing her hands, unsure what to do. If Benedict had died, Uncle Derrick would lose hope, unable to bear the pain. Derrick's surrender would mean Joseph officially taking over the company. Thenโฆ
"Arianna," Eloise said, understanding, "If your father takes over, Damian's position will strengthen. You must hurry."
"Mom, don't worry. Does Damian think he can succeed?" Arianna snorted. "Actually, you needn't worry about Dad. He gave you the sapphire necklace. That's perfect evidence that even if he can't let go of that woman, he'll never let go of you. You're the best proof."
"It's not that he won't give me up; he doesn't want to give up my share of the assets," Eloise said with a wry smile, understanding Joseph's feelings. "Nevermind. I don't care about your father anymore. You and Nate are most important."
Lisa visited Lily's studio for the first time and was awestruck.
"This place is so beautiful! If you hadn't said it was a studio, I'd have thought it was a vacation home!" She strolled the patio, though the uneven cobblestones made her walk hesitant.
"You've been out a long time. Aren't you tired?" Lily asked, smiling from beside the pool.
Although the studio was nearly finished, Lily hadn't officially started work. Suspecting pregnancy had interrupted her plans, but now, not pregnant, she could return to her schedule. However, her rhythm felt disrupted; she'd lost her train of thought.
"I'm not tired. I wouldn't be, even if I lived here." Lisa leaped in front of Lily. "How's your consideration going?"
Lily held her chin, squinting at Lisa in the sunlight. "Tell me, do you have any preliminary ideas? The information you sent was incomplete."
