Chapter 771
"You're just jealous!" Lisa ignored Noah's explanation. "I think you're all a bunch of losers from Hyderland. Lily's the only genuinely talented and capable one!"
Lily found this arrogant. Talented perfumers still existed in Hyderland, and Lisa had just insulted them all. "Lisa," Lily began, but Lisa interrupted. "Lily! I'm just saying what's on my mind," she said, tugging Lily's sleeve.
Noah smirked coldly. "I assure you, Lily is not the only talented perfumer from Hyderland, Miss Parker. I'm sure your father would disagree with you!" He would have already reprimanded Lisa if not for her father's influence.
Lily stood tall. "It's pointless to argue. Noah, I don't own the license you're referring to, and I won't pursue it. Perfumery is a hobby for me, but I'll continue, and no one can stop me. Don't tell me whether or not I have the right to do it. I'll say this once: if any of you touches my workplace, I'll tear you to shreds!" Her piercing gaze fixed on Noah; her usual calm demeanor was replaced with fierce intensity. Even Lisa was surprised by this transformation.
"Why you" Noah was speechless, stunned by Lily's stubbornness. After glaring at her for a few seconds, he sneered, "You think you're so great? Just because you've created some popular perfumes doesn't mean you're a top perfumer. Don't forget your embarrassing past. The Perfumers' Society knows you as 'the perfumer without a nose'—a nickname unique to you."
Hatred and prejudice laced Noah's words. Lily was taken aback by his bringing up her past.
Noah, noticing her surprise, pressed his advantage, sneering and stepping closer. "I'm not sure you deserve the title of genius perfumer, but you're undoubtedly the most controversial. You can't survive alone in this industry; you need to fit in. Since you rejected Mr. Parker's offer and returned to Hyderland, you must obey our rules. The Perfumers' Society once welcomed you, but you didn't appreciate it. We won't force you, but you must accept the Society's management."
Lily met his threats and insults head-on, lifting her chin proudly. "You're right. I was once known as 'the perfumer without a nose.' However, I beat you in the international perfumery competition. Is your nose merely decorative? If not, why did it lose to mine?"
Lily disliked personal attacks, but Noah's shamelessness justified her response.
Lisa, a frank person, burst into laughter. "Hahaha!"
Her laughter mortified Noah. The Perfumers' Society had recommended him for the competition—young, talented, gifted—but he'd only been the runner-up. This wouldn't have been unusual, second place being excellent, but his opponent was an unknown from Hyderland, not even a member of the Perfumers' Society.
