Chapter 799

"So, Mr. Tanner, you seem to prioritize your company's losses over Ms. Schiffer's well-being, am I right?"

Another reporter immediately interjected. Damian, no fool, recognized the leading question.

"Of course, I care about Ms. Schiffer," he said, "but before conclusive evidence exists, it's wrong for her to claim our perfume is defective. We consider it slander and have the right to pursue legal action."

"The hospital has issued a report confirming your company's perfume triggered Ms. Schiffer's allergic reaction. There's no doubt. Why are you still arguing? What other evidence do you need?"

The reporters pressed further:

"Mr. Tanner, did you come here to pressure Ms. Schiffer into recanting her statement?"

"Are you here to suppress this matter because your company cannot prove its innocence?"

"If it triggered Ms. Schiffer's allergic reaction, other consumers must also be experiencing it. Furthermore, my sources say your perfume contains prohibited ingredients. How did it pass safety testing? Do you have an insider on the inspection team?"

"Consumers have a right to know this, and it's not something you can cover up by claiming defamation. If you believe she's slandering you, sue her."

The barrage of well-prepared questions cornered Damian. His inexperience left him speechless.

"Y-You" he stammered.

"Mr. Tanner, what more do you have to say? Are you going to claim we're slandering you?"

Damian's fear of public backlash overwhelmed him. He finally understood why his company had tried to prevent his visit. Despite his anger towards Naomi, curled up in her hospital bed, he couldn't act recklessly with reporters present.

Gritting his teeth and glaring at Naomi, he said bitterly, "Good on you, Naomi! Our company won't let this slide. We'll fight you legally to the very end!"

He turned, pushed through the crowd, and left. The reporters, however, didn't follow. Instead, they turned their cameras to Naomi, who immediately covered her face and wept.

"Ms. Schiffer, do you have anything to say in response to that threat?"

"I have no comment," she sobbed. "I'm very uncomfortable, and I don't know if this will have long-term effects. I just want to rest."

Naomi's distress elicited widespread sympathy.

"Don't worry, Ms. Schiffer! We will seek justice for you!"

"Everyone here is on your side, Ms. Schiffer. We've seen your allergies. We won't let unscrupulous companies escape punishment!"

"Yes, that company is unscrupulous!"

Public opinion swiftly turned against the company. Naomi pulled the comforter higher and sobbed.

"Thank you, everyone. I'm very tired now."

"We should leave and let Ms. Schiffer rest. We wish you a speedy recovery."
