Amy stared at me, and the next second, her face turned bright red, a bit angry. “Ms. Murphy, what do you mean by that? I said I like Yvonne. What’s wrong with that?”

Reflecting on my previous life, I realized I had a big part in Yvonne growing into a troubled girl. So, this time, I decided to give both of us another chance. I didn’t want anyone with ulterior motives around her, giving her the wrong guidance and education.

I took on a fierce, protective expression, glaring at Amy. “That’s fine, but if you think you can win a man’s heart by charming his kid, you’re way off.”

Amy huffed, “I didn’t think that. That’s a failed tactic Tracy used, and I wouldn’t stoop to that.”

“Fine. You can pursue Jared, but don’t start meddling with my child,” I said as I grabbed my things and started to walk away.

Suddenly, Amy stepped in front of me. “Ms. Murphy, be honest with me. Do you still have some possessiveness over Jared?”

I looked at her straight in the eye. “No.”

“That can’t be true. We’re both women, we understand each other. Even if you’ve moved on, I bet you don’t want anyone else to have him. That’s a woman’s instinct for superiority and possessiveness,” Amy shot back sharply.

I smirked coldly. “That’s your thinking, not mine.”

“If Jared and I get together, do you really think you can just disappear?” Amy seemed genuinely afraid of my presence, lowering her voice to ask.

“What do you mean disappear? I’m not dead,” I replied, not falling into her trap. “A strong woman doesn’t care who her rivals are; only the insecure feel threatened.”

Amy’s face went pale in an instant. When faced with Jared, she didn’t have confidence.

“Not everyone is as lucky as you to have been liked by him when he was younger,” Amy shot back angrily, taking a jab at me.

I could only shrug. “Well, looking at it that way, it seems your luck could definitely use a boost.”

Amy’s frustration flared, but she couldn’t find a comeback.

“Patience is key. You’re being too hasty,” I said as I strode away.

I knew why Amy was anxious. She didn’t know how long Jared’s single phase would last. If it were only a few months and he had someone younger by then, she’d be at a disadvantage trying to compete. That was why she was nervous.

This move to Shaville was probably half her doing, combined with Jared wanting to put distance between me and Nathan. Both of them were eager for me to leave Harhester.

Because of this mess with Amy, I decided to take Yvonne out for dinner that night.

Jared’s driver sent her here, and Yvonne happily greeted me. “Mina finally suggested dinner! I’ve been waiting forever," Yvonne chattered away, and it felt like we were really communicating.

Unlike before, she wouldn't have these little tantrums and make it hard to talk to her.

I looked over at her and said, "I’ll be going to Shaville in three days. I might only come back once every ten days or two weeks. If you have anything to say..."

"Can’t you just not go to Shaville?" Yvonne didn’t seem ready to face the separation, her eyes starting to well up.

“That’s a company decision, not mine,” I replied.
