Chapter 103: Nothing to Feel Aggrieved

Kevin entered Abigail's room and closed the door. He looked at her, his eyes unusually solemn. "Abigail," he said softly, "are you still mad?"

Abigail looked pale and listless, a heaviness in her eyes.

"No," she replied. Abigail was never angry; she was disappointed.

Kevin helped her to the couch and gently sat her down. "I've talked to Sean," he said. "He's dropping the charges against Damian and Victor, but he's furious you argued with him on Victor's behalf."

"I didn't even get mad after everything he did for Joan. What gives him the right?" Abigail found the situation ludicrous.

Kevin retrieved a bottle of water from under the table and offered it to Abigail. She didn't take it. Awkwardly, he placed it on the coffee table. "He's angry because he's jealous," Kevin explained. "He thinks you've gone too far, fighting him for the model, especially considering—"

Abigail interrupted. "Just tell me what you want me to do, Mr. Stewart." She was desperate to avoid further discussion of her marriage. Sean's blatant manipulation of the production team to boost Joan's career had effectively ended their relationship. Bringing it up felt like a mockery. For Joan's future, Sean had pushed Abigail into a corner; she'd lost all hope.

Kevin hesitated. "If you don't tell him anything, how will he know? Take today, for instance. He's genuinely jealous—"

Abigail cut him off coldly. "Just tell me what you want me to do."

Kevin nodded. "It's a day off tomorrow. Show him some affection, and things will settle down. He's a man; he won't hold a grudge. Just show him some affection, and he'll let it go."

Abigail considered this and nodded.

"Get some rest, Abigail. Don't take this to heart. It's hard to find the truth, and Victor did a lot of stupid things—"

"Thank you, Mr. Stewart," Abigail interrupted calmly.

Kevin interpreted her calm demeanor as a dismissal, so he returned to Sean. Sean's expression was icy. He grunted, but offered no objection to the arrangement.

Abigail remained in her room for a while. She was about to speak to Luna when she saw Sean leaving. Their eyes met, but Abigail quickly looked away and went to Luna's room.

Sean watched Abigail go. He pursed his lips, returned to his room, and closed the door. Abigail heard the click of the lock and sighed.

Luna opened her door, and Abigail entered. "Kevin talked to me. The Victor situation is over. We'll move on."

"Over? You made Sean back down?" Luna looked shocked.

Abigail shook her head. "Kevin mediated. He wants me to show Sean some affection on camera tomorrow."

Luna looked at her calmly absurd friend and took her hand. "If you think this is unfair, we'll leave. We can't win, even if Victor stays."

"It's not that," Abigail said calmly. She wanted the show to be fair, to prevent Joan from bullying people without consequence.

"This is humiliating," Luna whispered.

Abigail went to her workstation. "We need to be careful. We can't let this happen again. I just want to hang on until the results are announced."
