Chapter 135: Aggressive Rival
Abigail's assistant hung up the phone, shaking her head and muttering, "Abigail is still single. What on earth was that?" She glanced at Anthony, who was chatting with Abigail in the office, a smile playing on her lips.
Although Abigail and Mr. Graham have great on-screen chemistry, I'm a die-hard romantic. Mr. Graham buying Joan a bag has become a sore point for me. Ultimately, she decided to root for Anthony and Abigail.
Hearing that Anthony was Abigail's senior, she envisioned a heart-wrenching campus drama of unrequited love.
The phone rang again—the same number. Impatiently, she answered.
"Mrs. Graham!" Kevin's anxious voice said.
"Who are you? Abigail is single. There's no Mrs. Graham," she replied assertively.
Sean snatched the phone. "Where's Abigail?"
The assistant, momentarily puzzled by the familiar voice, became cautious. "What business do you have with her? She's working. For orders, contact Miss Smith."
She wondered if this was one of Joan's admirers.
"Does she work without her phone?" Sean asked coldly.
The assistant, unhappy but professional, replied, "Yes, she's meeting someone important and can't answer the phone."
"Who?" he asked instinctively.
"I can't disclose that information, sir. If you have other needs, please come to the studio," she said with a mischievous smile, then hung up. Abigail is just a designer; there's no reason for someone to be seeking her as a client. He was probably trying to cause trouble.
Kevin's eyes widened in shock.
Sean returned the phone, his brows furrowed, a dark expression crossing his face. "It's definitely Anthony."
"Your rivalis quite aggressive," Kevin murmured.
"I need to leave," Sean said, standing abruptly.
"I'll work on the breach of contract; we haven't submitted the procedure yet," Kevin said hastily.
Anthony had been meticulously discussing the downfall of the Western Roman Empire, providing Abigail with inspiration.
Sean and Kevin arrived near lunchtime. Abigail and Anthony were leaving her office, smiling. She saw them in the reception area, her assistant standing silently beside them. Abigail frowned slightly.
Kevin, smiling cheerfully, asked, "Miss Quinn, where's Miss Smith?"
"She's on a business trip. What brings you here?" Her tone was indifferent, her eyes sharp. Sean, legs crossed, flipped through a fashion magazine. "We're here to have lunch with you, Miss Quinn." He'd overheard their earlier lunch plans.
Abigail looked at him, unaware of his intentions.
"Sorry, I've already made plans with Mr. Booker," she declined calmly.
Her assistant wondered, What kind of drama is this?
"I invited you to lunch, and I don't accept uninvited guests," Abigail said calmly but firmly.
Kevin felt Sean's chilling aura and shrank back.
Anthony, delighted, smiled. "That's okay. Let's go."
Kevin found Anthony likable. Sean seemed like he was trying to catch them in an affair; Abigail might feel he didn't trust her. Anthony, comparatively, seemed more understanding.
Sean gritted his teeth, a bitter smile playing on his lips. Anthony was quick to seize opportunities, acting like he was in charge.
As Abigail passed, he grasped her wrist. "Miss Quinn, with so many people shipping us online, aren't you afraid of accusations of a fauxmance if you change partners after the show?"
"I'm not in the entertainment industry. I don't care what they think," she replied, struggling against his grip.
"Netizens aren't easy to deal with. Be careful not to tarnish L.Moon Studio's reputation," he said through gritted teeth.
Abigail glanced at him, then nodded reluctantly. "Alright, let's go together."
"I'll start the car, Abby," Anthony said warmly.
Sean, however, held her hand, preventing a response to Anthony. "You drive and choose the restaurant. You're treating."
Abigail took a deep breath, suppressing her anger.
Kevin worried about Sean's assertive attitude; he didn't seem to stand a chance.
"Sure," Anthony replied, smiling.
