Chapter 137: Not Caring for Anyone Now

Abigail stood, her plate in hand, her expression cold. “That’s because, over the past three years, I’ve told you many things, but you never cared. I don’t want to talk about it anymore. It’s meaningless for you to know now.”

She walked into the kitchen and began washing dishes.

Just as she finished, Sean hugged her from behind and kissed her ear. “Tell me, Abigail. For the past three years…”

“If you want to do it, do it quickly. I need to sleep and wake up early tomorrow,” she interrupted.

He reached out and pinched her waist. “Do you have to be like this?”

She winced in pain, her brows furrowing. “Are you doing it or not? If not, get out. I wasn’t home for a week, and neither were you. Did you get tired of Joan and come back to me?”

“I was at the Graham Estate the entire week. Why are you making assumptions? You said you’re not jealous of Joan, but you keep mentioning her,” he said, pinching her chin and forcing a kiss.

Soon, they were panting in the kitchen. Sean held her tightly, his voice husky. “I have my reasons for not wanting children.”

“I don’t want to hear them. I won’t have your children. I’ll use contraceptives,” she said coldly, still panting.

Hearing this, his heart sank. He released her, adjusted his clothes, and left.

Abigail leaned against the sink, gazing at the unwashed dishes. She was startled back to reality by a loud bang from outside.

The next day, at the fabric market, her phone rang.

Seeing it was Cornelie, she answered and moved to a quieter spot. “Is there something you need, Grandma? I’m on a business trip this week. I’m not in Pendorf.”

While maintaining a polite demeanor, her lack of respect caused her tone to quickly turn cold. “Yes, why can’t you wait a week? If it’s about taking supplements to have a child, I’ll just pretend I didn’t take this call.”

“What did you say? How dare you speak to me like that? I don’t care where you are, but you must return to the Graham Estate today!” Cornelie’s anger flared. “You’re usually so obedient, why are you so feisty today?!”

“If you want a great-grandchild, you need to persuade Sean. I can’t give birth without him. I’m very busy. If there’s nothing important, please don’t call me.” Abigail hung up.

Minutes later, Analise called. “Abigail, how dare you speak disrespectfully to Sean’s grandmother?”

“Grandma, do you know how much I’ve suffered at her hands? If you side with her without knowing what happened, then I truly have no one.” Abigail stood in the sun, her eyes slightly moist.

“Can’t you at least respect her as an elderly person? Sean’s grandmother has a weak heart. What if you make her sick?” Analise’s voice softened.

“I know what to do, Grandma. Don’t worry. I’m busy with work. I’ll call you later.”

“Did you and Sean fight?” Analise asked quickly, fearing Abigail would hang up.

Abigail licked her lips. “No, we’re fine.”

“Don’t lie to me, Abigail.”

“I’m not lying. I have urgent matters to handle. If I don’t handle them properly, the studio could face over a million in damages,” Abigail explained, smiling.

“Why can’t you stay at…”

“Grandma, I want to be financially independent to handle unexpected situations. There are many uncertainties we can’t control,” Abigail said gently. “If Sean divorces me and marries Joan, Cornelie will make me leave with nothing. If I don’t work hard and buy a house, I could get kicked out of the Graham family. I’m not going to rent forever. Most importantly, Grandma has diabetes.”

“Abigail… Is Sean seeing someone else?” Analise asked, guessing Abigail’s motivation.

“No, Grandma, please don’t assume,” Abigail said hurriedly. “You shouldn’t rely on others too much. I can’t keep asking him for money.”

“Then call Colby and explain. I’ll leave you to your work.” Analise thought Abigail might have been embarrassed asking Sean for money.

Abigail called Colby and explained. He was reasonable and told her to focus on her work.

Meanwhile, Cornelie called Sean. “Can you believe it? She’s turned against me! I told her to come back and eat well, but her attitude! You have to divorce her soon. I can’t stand her anymore!”

Sean was overwhelmed.
