Abigail had just gotten out of the car when Analise arrived. Seeing Analise safely exit the cab, Abigail's worried heart finally calmed.
“Grandma, you could have just called if you wanted to visit; I would have picked you up. Otherwise, I’d be very worried seeing you travel so far alone.” Abigail went forward, paid the fare, then turned and supported Analise, taking the old woman's bag with one hand. “Take your time. Let’s go home.”
Analise, however, refused to move. Shaking her head, she said, “It’s okay, I won’t intrude. I’m filthy. I’m here to give Sean the locust flowers.”
Analise shakily opened her bag, revealing neatly wrapped packs of dried locust flowers.

“When you brought Sean home a few years ago, he said he liked the locust flower tea I made. The flowers were in bloom some time ago, so I asked Tom next door to gather them. I dried them before bringing them here.” At the mention of her grandson-in-law, Analise looked content, a warm smile on her face. “Don’t worry, they’re clean. I rinsed them multiple times and covered them with gauze while drying them.”
Abigail never imagined Analise would travel so far to bring Sean dried locust flowers. A sour feeling welled up in her heart.
Back then, Abigail hadn't wanted to bring Sean home. Colby felt that, since Analise was aging, she couldn't easily travel to the city for their wedding. However, they couldn't skip visiting Analise, so Sean visited Abigail's old home.
Abigail had been nervous seeing him in the farmyard, looking out of place, frowning at everything. He'd accepted Analise's tea, claiming he liked it because of his Graham family upbringing, not necessarily his preference.
Analise had taken this to heart. Unbeknownst to her, Abigail would soon be divorcing Sean.
Abigail blinked away tears, then playfully held Analise's arms. “Look how biased you are! Outsiders would think he's your biological grandson. You brought him this, but what about me?”
Analise smiled, patting Abigail. “Silly child, what are you saying? I care about him because I care about you.” She was nice to Sean only hoping he'd be kinder to Abigail.
Abigail pouted. “Then why won't you stay a few days? You won't know if Sean's been bullying me.”
Analise, angered, tried to hit Abigail, reprimanding, “Don’t jinx it! Sean is a good boy. Why would he bully you?!” Yet, she followed Abigail into the community, uncertainly asking, “Sean hasn’t been bullying you, has he?”
Abigail bit her lip, ultimately not revealing her impending divorce. She smiled, “Don’t worry. With you around, he wouldn’t dare.”
More than once, Abigail had wanted Analise to live with her, but her relationship with Sean wasn't good. Fearing Analise would notice, she couldn't mention it. Analise also claimed she wasn't used to city life.
Now, on the verge of divorce, Analise had come to visit. If Analise knew about Abigail's life with the Grahams, her heart would likely ache.
Fortunately, when Luna bought Abigail a house, fearing for her safety, she also bought men's clothes, slippers, etc. Abigail wore the men's slippers, making them look worn at the entrance.
Seeing the slippers, Analise assumed they were Sean's, suspecting nothing. Happily, she said, “You should get to work. I’ll be fine. You shouldn't stay just to accompany me.”
Abigail refused, explaining she’d asked Luna for time off before Analise relaxed. Analise then began tidying. “Look how lonely this place is! How will you have a child without things to make children happy?”
She took out a charm, placing it in Abigail's hand. “Put this up.”
Abigail sensed Analise couldn't see clearly. “What happened to your eyes?”
Analise looked at Abigail. “Don’t change the subject! What could happen? I don’t have my glasses, that’s all. Aren’t you going to hang this up?”
Abigail shrugged, feeling the charm wouldn't make her pregnant, but it might make Analise happy. She found tape and hung it in the living room.
Returning, she saw Analise unpacking children's shoes, a toy drum, and more, placing them on the TV cabinet and shoe rack. She also placed another fertility charm on a table.
Abigail pursed her lips, wanting to tell Analise about the impending divorce and the impossibility of children, but her phone rang.
It was Tom. She'd asked him to care for Analise in the village; he likely called about her health. Abigail went to the bathroom to answer. “Hi, Tom.”
His voice was panicky. “Abigail! Your grandma ran out of the hospital!”
Abigail froze. “The hospital?”

Analise seemed so sprightly today!
Tom sighed. “She didn’t want me to tell you, but I took her for a check-up yesterday. T-The doctor said she has serious diabetes, and she m-might lose her vision.”
Abigail froze. She felt a blow to the head; her mind went blank.
