Chapter 56: Something Alright
This woman is mocking me—that's precisely why. Abigail smirked, quietly serving Joan her coffee. Only then did Joan stop whining. Despite her awkwardness, Abigail managed to take some of Joan's measurements. Joan languidly walked to the bathroom for a shower.
While Joan showered, Abigail went to a corner and texted Luna: "How's it going on your end?"
Luna replied with three dots, then added, "Take a guess." She could bluff her way out of any situation and praise Abigail's designs effusively, but years had passed since she'd drawn anything; her skills had deteriorated completely. Even if she could produce something, it wouldn't be outstanding, damaging Alana's reputation.
Even through the phone, Abigail could imagine Luna's expression. She stood, put away the tape, and knocked on the door. "Miss Smith needs my help. Once you're done, knock on my door. I'll take the rest of your measurements."
Taking her measurements isn't a priority; the draft is. I need to get back to work on it.
Joan said nothing but didn't stop her. Is she giving me attitude? When they're stumped on the design, she'll be begging for my help.
Taking her silence as agreement, Abigail left the room, breathing deeply once outside. She decided to find Sean and retrieve the draft she'd left behind. First, she had no time to create another draft; second, she was too annoyed to design anything for someone like Joan. That woman wasn't worth it.
Hesitantly, Abigail hung her head, then texted Sean, asking if he was in his room.
Sean didn't answer.
Abigail couldn't stay in the corridor too long, or the camera might catch her. She returned to her room, leaned against the cabinet to change her shoes, and touched something that wasn't wood.
She turned and saw the draft she'd left in Sean's room sitting on the cabinet. She froze. I couldn't find it last night, no matter how hard I tried. Did he put it back? Abigail wasn't sure what to feel, though she thought, At least he did one good thing in his life.
The draft was a little dirty, so she patted it, but couldn't remove the mark. She didn't bother and quickly went to find Luna.
Luna was in her room, calling Kevin. Anger simmered, but she contained it. "Mr. Stewart, we just need to take her measurements, and my assistant has been gone for half an hour. If she's not cooperating, how am I supposed to do my job?"
Kevin might have sounded relaxed, but he had a headache too. Knowing Luna and Abigail were friends, he smiled. "Oh, calm down. We have time. If she won't do it today, there's always tomorrow."
Many celebrities become arrogant with a wealthy backer, and now that Joan had Sean's support, she was probably insufferable. She wouldn't cooperate unless her ego was stroked.
Frustrated, Luna spun her pen, her temples throbbing. "What did you promise me when you invited me, Mr. Stewart?" The thought of Abigail being undermined by Sean's mistress enraged her.
What the f is Sean doing, letting that b* disrespect his wife?
"Calm down," Kevin wanted to scream. He was stuck between Sean's wife and Sean's mistress. If he lectured Joan, Sean would demand an explanation.
Luna hissed, "You think we're pushovers? You rigged the team and forced us to work together, and now she's slowing everything down. If I'd known this, I never would have joined!"
She hung up.

That wasn't what Kevin had done, but he had no defense.
Abigail had returned to the room and stood in the doorway. She looked icy, but warmth shone in her eyes.
Luna hid her fury and smiled. "You were quiet. Why didn't you tell me you were back?"
"You don't need to be mad at him for me. He's the client; this is how jobs go. Not everything will be smooth." Abigail approached, waving the draft.
Noticing the draft, Luna smiled. "How did you get it back?" She wasn't happy at all. If it were someone else bullying Abigail, she wouldn't be this mad, but it had to be Sean's mistress.
She felt like they'd been tricked into the show to be insulted by Sean's mistress. What does he think she is?
"Sean put this in my room. It doesn't matter that Joan isn't cooperating now," Abigail shrugged, calm.
The cleaned-up version removes inconsistencies, corrects grammatical errors, improves sentence structure, and removes inappropriate language (replaced with asterisks to indicate where profanity was removed). The numerical and alphabetical strings at the end remain unchanged as their meaning or purpose is unclear.
