Chapter 195: You Like Him?

Leo's words created an awkward atmosphere in the kitchen. Maggie was bewildered by his request. "Is he crazy? What does he want?" she wondered, trying to recall any similar incidents. She remembered two instances where Leo's hands had been greasy. Maggie shot him a questioning look. "Are you looking for trouble? Why are you provoking Nathael?"

Leo remained unmoved, insisting on her help. He locked eyes with her, refusing to back down. Maggie felt uneasy and glanced at Nathael, noticing his darkened expression. Speechless, she watched as Nathael looked at her, then turned to Leo. "I'll help you," he offered, taking an apron and approaching Leo.

Maggie was surprised. The sight of one man helping another put on an apron was peculiar. She began to imagine the scene, but Leo stopped Nathael. "No thanks, Mr. Harris. I can manage on my own." Nathael didn't press the issue. Taking advantage of Nathael's distraction, Maggie glared at Leo. "Please don't cause any trouble for me!" she thought, fearing Nathael's potential retribution.

Leo simply smiled and remained silent. When Nathael turned, Maggie quickly averted her gaze, then offered a cute smile. "I'll go keep Mr. Dunphy company," she said, quickly leaving the kitchen, feeling inexplicably guilty. Perhaps she feared Nathael might misunderstand.

Chapter 195: You Like Him?

Maggie couldn't understand Leo's behavior. He'd always been amiable, or at least he'd pretended to be. In her previous life, her hatred for Nathael had fueled Leo's own animosity. But now, knowing she liked Nathael, his odd behavior in front of him was perplexing.

"Maggie, play something for me. Let me check your progress," Kevin smiled, beckoning her.

Maggie went to the piano and played a melodious piece, "Waves." The calming music evoked a sense of serene peace, contrasting with the subtle rivalry unfolding in the kitchen. Surprisingly, there was no overt tension between the two men, but a quiet competitiveness nonetheless.

Leo looked at the fish Nathael had prepared. "I never expected the prestigious Mr. Harris to know how to cook," he remarked.

"I'm not as skillful as you," Nathael replied.

Leo smiled. "However, Maggie doesn't like fish. It's a shame you prepared that."

Nathael paused, then looked at Leo. "Thanks for telling me, Mr. Caleb."

Leo said coldly, "No problem. Growing up with her makes me understand her better."

"I will seek your advice in the future," Nathael said sincerely.

Leo remained expressionless. Despite several attempts to probe him, Nathael remained composed, showing no annoyance. It was understandable; he wasn't an ordinary man.

As Maggie finished playing, Kevin felt nostalgic. He sighed, "Time flies. You guys grew up so fast, and I've grown old, too."

"You're still young at heart; that fire hasn't died down," Maggie replied.

Kevin chuckled, patting her head. "You always have a smooth tongue."

"I've always been your most obedient and diligent student," Maggie protested playfully.

Kevin didn't refute her. Maggie was exceptionally talented, obedient, and hardworking, never slacking in her lessons.

Kevin walked to a wall displaying photos of his former studentsโ€”some from school, others he'd tutored individually, and some he'd taught at his superior's request. Essentially, all his students were represented.

"Mr. Dunphy, what are you thinking about? Are you still thinking I'm your best student after seeing all these?" Maggie asked, accompanying him, concerned he might get lost in his memories. Since his wife's death a few years ago, he often became lost in thought.

He snapped out of it, looking at the largest photoโ€”a picture of him, Leo, and Maggie. His hair wasn't as white then. Maggie was slim and beautiful, looking obedient and appreciative of the opportunity to learn. Leo, however, was differentโ€”dirty, messy, and fierce, unlike his current easygoing demeanor.

Maggie pointed to the photo. "Leo looks like a troublemaker at first glance. He's totally different now!" she exclaimed, sighing inwardly. Perhaps they were happier when they were young and reckless.

Back then, Leo had been ready to fight, doing as he pleased. After returning to C, even in luxury, he'd had to scheme and fight for himself. Maggie, meanwhile, had been trapped in repaying the Camerons' kindness, grateful even when they restricted her piano practice. This contrasted sharply with her present selfโ€”wounded but having seen through the truth and lived two lifetimes.

Fortunately, she had someone to heal her. Maggie couldn't help but look towards Nathael.

Kevin followed her gaze and smiled. "Do you like him?"
