Chapter 295: Don't Go Too Far

Nathael narrowed his eyes at Maggie, eyeing her dangerously. A chill ran down Maggie's spine. Too afraid to turn around, she remained still.

Luckily, Joyce and Mia arrived with food from a famous restaurant in Alosel. The restaurant's top-tier service ensured that the chef and waiter arrived within two hours of placing the order.

"Let's dine together," Nathael said. "The Harrises' plane is in Alosel." Both Leslie and Nathael held shares in the private hospital, so a table was quickly prepared by the chef and waiters.

"Maggie," Nathael beckoned her. Worried he might be in pain, Maggie carefully helped him up. "Are you feeling alright?" she asked, looking into his eyes.

Maggie's knees weakened, and her voice trembled. "I was just joking. I was heartbroken when you were in the operating room. I swear!" she added, fearing he didn't believe her.

Nathael pecked her lips and whispered, "I know."

Relief washed over Maggie, until Nathael said, "It's true that you're heartbroken, and it's also true that you want to find a new lover."

Stunned, Maggie was speechless. Nathael cupped her chin, fixing his gaze on her. "Why don't you tell me what kind of man you're looking for?" He was curious; this was the second time she'd mentioned it.

Maggie stuttered, looking at him innocently. "What? Who said I was looking for another man? Someone is trying to sabotage our relationship!"

Nathael chuckled. "We'll talk about this later," he said in a low voice. Maggie's expression drooped.

Jimmy teased, "Do you want me to get a room for you guys?"

He was beaming. Maggie blushed furiously, wishing she could disappear. Nathael remained expressionless. "It's you who are leaving. This is my ward."

Jimmy chuckled. "Why would I leave if Ms. Sanders is going to follow me?"

Silence fell over the ward. Joyce, arranging cutlery, paused and looked at Jimmy. Their eyes met, and her heart skipped a beat. With a straight face, she replied, "It's not funny to say that; we're not that close."

Jimmy's smile faded slightly. "We're not close?" He looked at her with amusement; his words were ambiguous.

The meal was pleasant, aside from some tension. Nathael, having difficulty moving, ate little. Worried, Maggie noted, "You didn't eat much." Knowing he hadn't eaten well in the past two days while she was in trouble, she urged him to eat more for his injuries.

"It's not convenient for me to eat," he replied.

Maggie looked at the bandages on his left hand and scratches on his right. After a moment, she whispered, "Do you want me to feed you?" She didn't dare look up, afraid others might hear.

Nathael stared at her. She's cute! he thought. They seemed closer. Ericko was right; he wasn't on the losing end.

Maggie felt awkward and embarrassed when Nathael didn't answer. "Forget about it," she said.

"Okay," Nathael said simultaneously, smiling.

Maggie looked at himโ€”he'd agreed! She glanced around. Leslie was focused on her food. Jimmy sat beside Joyce, barely eating, staring at her and making snide remarks. Mia's phone buzzed constantly; she was likely chatting with someone. Ericko asked, "Ms. Gatlin seems busy with work?"

Relieved no one was paying attention, Maggie asked Nathael suspiciously, "What do you want to eat?"

"Anything is fine," he replied. He didn't have much of an appetite, but Maggie's concern was rare.

Maggie fed him a few bites. "Do you like it?" she asked, feeling awkward.

"It's delicious," Nathael said.

Maggie smiled, finally relaxing after two tense days. Relieved they were all alive, and especially that his fingers were intact, she became teary-eyed. Quickly lowering her head, she scooped up another spoonful to feed him.

Jimmy chuckled, looking at them. "Maggie is the only one who would fall for your trick of pretending to be hurt."

"Are you jealous?" Nathael challenged.

Jimmy cursed under his breath, unable to eat. "I'm going to smoke."

Ericko looked at them and said, "Nathael, don't go too far. I'm still here."
