Chapter 366: I Can't Believe This
Sierra quickly opened Twitter and saw her name trending at the top. Clicking on it, she found a photo of herself and Ivan from the previous day posted online. Though the sensitive parts were blurred, their faces were clearly visible.
The comments were harsh:
"Wow, I can't believe this! They're fifteen years apart, right? Doing this under the guise of learning piano is gross!"
"My eyes are burning! Now I get why some say Ivan is helping Sierra so much. It turns out they're sleeping together."
"This is so shocking. I wish I had never seen the picture; I feel dirty now!"
"So Sierra's awards were earned this way, through her skills in bed. Wow."
"Tag Cameron Group's account! Do they know about this, or is high society just this messy?"
"Who are these two, especially Sierra? She's always on my feed. I'm tired of seeing her!"
"Is there an uncensored version?"
"Sierra, jump off a building! You've disgraced our top university! You're disgusting!"
The comment section was flooded with insults. Sierra trembled with anger. She tried to reply several times but couldn't.
Ronald was equally surprised. He stood up angrily and kicked the coffee table. "Look at what you've done!" he yelled furiously. He thought he couldn't get any angrier, but clearly, he was wrong.
Olivia's heart sank, and she was speechless for a while. All she could think was, "It's over! It's all over now!"
Both siblings faced a similar outcome. Joseph could handle it better, but Sierra's life was probably ruined.
At that moment, Ronald's phone rang. He checked the caller ID and saw it was Kehlani. He answered with a stern expression: "Mrs. Burton, are you calling now to make things worse?"
"Mr. Cameron, you misunderstood. I'm calling to explain. I swear on my life that those photos weren't leaked by our family, and we never sent them to anyone!" Though Kehlani sounded serious, there was a hint of gloating. But what she said was true. While she had considered getting back at Sierra, it wasn't the right time. Her and Ivan's divorce matters weren't settled yet; they had to wait.
"Well, thank you for explaining, Mrs. Burton," Ronald replied curtly, clearly displeased.
Kehlani continued, "If it's not us, we won't take the blame. Mr. Cameron, I believe you can find out the truth. Perhaps you should ask Ms. Cameron if anyone else knows about this." Ronald hung up abruptly.
This time, Sierra cried uncontrollably. Even though she was usually immature, she understood the seriousness of the situation. The thing she had been fearing finally came true. "How will I show my face now?" she thought.
"Take her upstairs, and don't let her leave the room without my say-so!" Ronald commanded, giving Olivia a warning glance.
"It's Maggie It has to be that awful Maggie! Why won't you believe me? She's out to get our family! You'll see. You'll regret it!" Sierra yelled hysterically as she was dragged upstairs. Her hair was a mess, and tears streamed down her face. There was no trace of her elegant appearance from before.
The next day, Maggie slept until noon. Sunlight seeped through the curtains, warming her and making her feel cozy. Nathael was already awake, but Maggie stayed in bed for a while. It wasn't until she checked her phone that she saw several messages from Mia, revealing Sierra and Ivan's scandal had been exposed online.
Maggie was taken aback, not anticipating it. But upon reflection, she realized it was probably leaked by Draco and the others; unsure of Nathael's feelings, they had tried extra hard to please him by ruining the lives of those who upset him.
After considering this, Maggie realized the timing was almost perfect. Sierra had been facing obstacles and setbacks; she must have been filled with anger and resentment, which would eventually turn into hatred needing an outlet. Clearly, Maggie, the one who had taken away Sierra's love, destroyed her happiness, and snatched her championship, would be the prime target.
After pondering for a while, Maggie got up, got ready, and left. Nathael wasn't in his study; it was messy, with sketches and sheet music scattered around. The desktop computer and laptop were also on. She guessed he didn't want to mess with his things or had nowhere to sit, so he was using the computer at the dining table. Two large suitcases on the floor had already been neatly packed. Maggie couldn't help but remember how she had thrown things around the previous night and felt a bit embarrassed.
"You're up. I made a salad. Want some?" Nathael heard her and spoke softly. Seeing he was still in his shirt, Maggie asked, "Did you go out this morning?"
"Yeah, I went to the company."
Maggie hugged his neck and sat on his lap. "You've been working hard."
Nathael hugged her waist, leaned down to kiss her lips, and said in a deep voice, "You're almost graduating. What are your plans after?"
Maggie was stunned for a moment before realizing the New Year was approaching. After New Year's, it would be the last semester, with few school-related matters left. Apart from her thesis, she had to continue her internship. If her previous internships went well, she might sign a formal contract after the New Year. In her previous life, she naturally went straight to Cameron Group and worked for the Camerons. Even though Ronald gave her nothing but problems and marginal companies to handle, she had still worked hard to build up the company. In this life
Maggie looked at her study, bathed in sunlight. The study had a simple and rustic feel with warm wooden decor. Sketches and shelves with jewelry accessories were scattered aroundโeverything she loved. She could spend all day there. Although her neck and shoulders would ache terribly, she never found it dull or boring.
"I haven't decided yet, but Mia, Leo, and I started a jewelry company before. Maybe I'll work there," Maggie said warmly.
Upon hearing this, Nathael abandoned his plan for her to join his jewelry company and simply said, "As long as you're doing what you love."
Maggie couldn't help but hold his cheeks and squeeze them slightly as she looked at his defined and handsome face. Seeing his puffy cheeks, she smiled, then leaned down and kissed his lips.
"Nathael's so wonderful How could I bear to break up with him?" she thought.
