Chapter 367: Prized Possession

Later that day, Maggie moved in with Nathael. Over the next two days, she enjoyed herself, following Nathael's suggestion and working with him, experiencing a bit of office romance.

On the fourth day, while Nathael was showering, Maggie received a call from Iris. Glancing at the closed bathroom door, she went to the kitchen for a glass of water, listening to Iris on the phone.

"Ms. Adam, I'd like to meet with you tomorrow to discuss your condition in person."

The voice was cold and robotic, devoid of emotion but direct.

"Alright."

"I'll send you the address shortly for our 10:00 PM meeting."

"Sounds good."

After Maggie responded, Iris hung up, leaving Maggie bewildered.

After a moment, she texted Leo: "Free tomorrow? Join me for an outing."

Leo responded quickly: "Sure." He didn't ask where they were going.

Maggie then deleted her call and message logs. She felt inexplicably nervous. Even facing death, as long as there was hope, she couldn't help but anticipate life. After all, who wouldn't want to live?

The next morning, after breakfast with Nathael, Maggie said, "I won't be joining you at the office today. Leo and I are going to the company, then meeting Mia for lunch."

She spoke casually, trying to appear nonchalant.

Nathael looked up. "That's sudden."

"Not really. There hasn't been much going on lately, and going to the office with you every day is getting boring. I need some fresh air."

Nathael raised an eyebrow, his gaze penetrating. "Am I boring you?"

Maggie smiled. "Of course not. I'll come to the office with you tomorrow. It's not healthy for me to stay cooped up playing games all day while you're in meetings."

Nathael had initially wanted Nolan to follow her, but seeing her reluctance, he said, "I'll take you to the company and chat with Leo later."

"Okay." Maggie didn't object.

After texting Leo to meet at the company, Maggie felt relieved.

Thirty minutes later, they arrived. To maintain authenticity, Leo didn't come down to greet them.

Maggie and Nathael went upstairs, exploring the company. Previously, to avoid suspicion from the Camerons, she had only collaborated with the company under the name 'Gianna,' providing pieces for Leo to sell.

"This will be my office from now on!" Maggie exclaimed, her expression filled with excitement and pride. Her eyes and eyebrows mirrored her joy.

Nathael surveyed the spacious office, a blend of lounge and workspace with an open, bright layout. Large windows offered city views. One side held a desk and workstation; the bookshelf and cubbies resembled those in her house.

Maggie sat in the swivel chair and, with a serious expression, told Nathael, "Nathael, this design is too old-fashioned. Redo it!"

Nathael's eyes twinkled. "Will do, Ms. Adam."

Maggie laughed.

Just then, Leo arrived, leaning against the doorframe.

"Hey, Leo," Maggie said, waving.

Nathael turned to Leo, his tone serious. "Mr. Caleb, can we chat for a bit?"

"Sure thing."

They stepped outside the office, talking quietly. Maggie tuned them out, figuring Nathael was worried about Sierra.

Later, Nathael returned. "Stay close to Mr. Caleb and stick around this building."

"Got it." Maggie rambled on, reminding Nathael of someone.

Nathael remained silent, his dark eyes seeking reassurance.

Maggie raised her hand. "I promise I'll be fine!"

Since her last kidnapping, Nathael seemed traumatized. Only then did he look away and leave.

After he left, Maggie sighed, her smile fading. She turned to the window, lost in thought.

Leo came over and rubbed her head. There was warmth in his usually cool eyes. "Don't worry. Everything will be fine."

Maggie smiled wistfully. "But what if it won't?"

Leo hesitated. He had been researching Dream Venom and similar cases, but there were no breakthroughs.

They sat in silence. Then Maggie whispered, "I can't stand leaving him."

The joy felt fleeting. Maggie told herself she should be content. Compared to her past, this life was much better.

Leo said slowly, "He wants me to beef up security, monitor everyone's movements, and stay alert for Sierra. He even wants someone to accompany you to the bathroom."

Maggie chuckled, then stood, her face brightening. "He's worried I'll be harmed again! I must be his prized possession!"

In this life or the last, Nathael always made her feel valued.

"Let's go. We're running late," Maggie said, checking the time.

Leo brought two skilled aides from the Calebs.

As they got into the car, Maggie saw a mother and young daughter. "You shouldn't eat too much ice cream," the mother said.

"Got it, Mommy!" the girl replied.

Maggie teasingly said, "Leo, do you think it's too late for me to have a child with him?"
