Chapter 392: I'm Fed Up With You!
โWhatโs up? I heard my brotherโs got you under lock and key,โ Timothyโs voice crackled through the phone, a hint of cheekiness in his tone. Maggie lowered her gaze and replied casually, โYou seem quite well-informed.โ
โNeed a hand? Why not tell him youโve fallen for me instead?โ Timothy suggested, a mischievous glint in his eyes.
Maggie chuckled. โIโm afraid heโll tear you limb from limb.โ
Timothy mused, โIs that so? Sounds exciting.โ
Maggie closed her eyes and rubbed her temples. Then, through the phone, she heard Timothy say, โThree days. Iโll give you three more days, or else donโt blame me for finding other ways to make him suffer. If I donโt see any progress in three days, Iris wonโt treat you anymore. So you better plan accordingly.โ
Timothyโs words only worsened Maggieโs already sour mood, fueling her frustration.
โYouโre quite generous, giving me so much time to work things out!โ Maggie retorted sarcastically, seething with anger.
Timothy raised an eyebrow. โGlad you understand.โ
Maggie closed her eyes and said calmly, โThree days is too short. Make it a week.โ
Timothy chuckled. โA week? Sure, but remember to send me a photo of Nathael heartbroken.โ
โGet lost!โ
Maggie ended the call in frustration, feeling utterly fed up.
After some thought, she messaged Mia, updating her on the situation.
Mia, currently enjoying a spa session, was surprised by the bombshell in Maggieโs message.
โWow! Is this some kind of imprisonment drama?โ
Maggie was so irritated she almost blocked Mia, but after a while, Mia replied, โAre you breaking up? Or is it just a heat-of-the-moment thing?โ Maggieโs throat tightened, and she replied bluntly, โItโs serious.โ
Mia didnโt ask further questions. After a while, she said, โWhen Nathael isnโt home, pick a time, and Iโll come to see you.โ
Maggie considered this and agreed. After all, Nathael had only said she couldnโt go out; he hadnโt said others couldnโt visit.
Chapter 392: Iโm Fed Up With You!
Not long after, she heard Nathael leave the study and enter the bathroom. Maggie quickly turned off the lights and lay down, her back to him. Her heart ached faintly, but she also felt an inappropriate sense of relief that they were still together.
However, she knew that Timothy and Master Harris wouldnโt give her more time, and her body couldnโt handle it either. She had to end things cleanly and focus on getting treatment.
Lost in thought, Nathael opened the door and entered. In the pitch-black room, every sensation seemed magnified, and Maggie could feel his movements. Soon, he lay down beside her.
Neither spoke, and Maggie felt uneasy. She didnโt know if she was doing the right thing, but it seemed she had no other choice.
In her past life, she hadnโt had much time left, and Nathael had hidden this from her. She sensed that during that time, he had become increasingly silent and irritable. Although he never changed his behavior towards her, she had secretly witnessed him losing his temper many times. She hadnโt seen his body grow thinner from his increasing workload, nor the dark circles under his eyes. However, she felt his pain and despair acutely.
Maggie didnโt want him to suffer alongside her in despair, clinging to hope only to be repeatedly disappointed. She didnโt want him to resort to desperate measures, like a madman, searching for ways to extend her life regardless of the consequences. She also didnโt want him to lose his mind as he did in her past life, seeking revenge on the Camerons after her death. She wished for a bright future for him. Even when standing alone in a high place, it felt lonely and sad. But Maggie never viewed love as essential to life. She believed he would cope, and someday, he would adjust to life without her.
When lost in thought, someone approached. Nathael wrapped his arms tightly around her waist, his strong arms encircling her slender frame. He closed his eyes, inhaling the scent of her hair. It seemed that only this way could he confirm she was still there, not gone.
โNanaโฆโ Nathaelโs voice was low, struggling to accept her harshness. There must be a reason. She did say she loved him.
โCanโt we stay together?โ he whispered, his voice almost pleading.
Chapter 392: Iโm Fed Up With You!
Maggieโs heart twisted as she heard him, biting her lip to hold back the tears welling in her eyes.
Nathael lightly kissed her neck and murmured, โIโll change what you donโt like about me. Okay?โ
โIf you feel trapped, Iโll set you free,โ Nathael said quietly.
Maggie looked down, hiding her tears, and tried to sound indifferent. โNathael, you know this wonโt make me stay. Canโt we just part ways amicably?โ
Nathael turned her around, his dark eyes meeting hers. He noticed the tears in her eyes and asked, โYouโre sad, so why do you want to break up?โ
Maggie looked up at him, tears still clinging to her lashes. She smiled lightly. โNathael, you should know, at first, I was using you. But I have to admit, youโre a pretty likeable guy. But I never planned to be with you.โ Nathael stubbornly stared at her, his eyes dark and deep.
โBefore, I used you against the Camerons, but after seeing what they were really like, I started using you against them. Itโs not fundamentally different, but to make it seem different, I naturally had to put in some genuine effort. I appreciate it, but I donโt want to be with you anymore. I do love you, but honestly, not that muchโฆโ Maggie said.
โThatโs enough! Stop talking!โ Nathael cut in coldly.
But Maggie persisted, โKeeping me around doesnโt do you any favors. My past has made me someone who always looks out for myself. I donโt want to keep using you.โ
โSo, everything before was just using me? Then what about the things you said, the things you did?โ Nathaelโs eyes grew dark and desperate, tinged with redness at the corners.
Maggie pushed him away slightly and said coldly, โLetโs cut our losses and call it quits.โ
Nathaelโs voice turned cold and heavy. โBut you said you love me.โ
Maggie chuckled mockingly. โDonโt you get it? Today I love you, tomorrow I can love someone else. I donโt believe in love. Loving someone is so easy. As long as theyโre good-looking, wealthy, and treat me well, whatโs the difference?
โI might get sad, but sadness doesnโt last long. In a few days, thereโll be better options,โ Maggie said.
Nathael tightened his grip on her arm. โIf it can be one, why canโt it be me?โ
Feeling frustrated, Maggie pushed him away, sat up, and said sharply, โNathael, canโt you get it? Iโm fed up with you. Iโm done playing around! So I want to find someone new to have fun with!โ
