Chapter 68: Obedient

After returning to her room, Maggie realized it was late. She texted Leo, telling him Sierra might contact him the next day and reminding him to be prepared.

After a quick wash, Maggie prepared for bed. She noticed red marks on her neck and collarbone, staring at them for a few seconds before closely examining them.

"That animal!" she thought. "Nathael went too far!"

Maggie knew passionate moments leave marks, but she hadn't expected so many love bites. Joseph would be furious.

Climbing into bed, she saw a message from Mia, received half an hour earlier: "Maggie, are you still alive? I'm bored."

Maggie replied, "Nathael is despicable. That jerk is worse than an animal."

The drowsy Mia instantly perked up. She replied, "What did he do? Did he make love to you? Have you cried?"

Maggie was speechless. She wrote, "This is amazing, Mia! You've just lost a friend."

Mia quickly replied, "Don't do that to me, Maggie. After all, Nathael seemed ready to kill someone, and that anger was directed at me too. I'm just worried about you!"

Maggie pulled the blanket over her head, rolling on the bed in annoyance. It was fine until Mia mentioned it, but now a burning pain flared in her buttocks. It would probably hurt for a while.

"What a jerk!" she muttered. In her past life, he'd only gently kissed her while she slept. But now…

Mia changed the subject: "What did he do to you?"

Maggie instantly replied, "Nothing. He just wants to be my father."

Mia continued, "My old man cut off my allowance for three months and grounded me for a week. Smile.jpg. I have to thank Nathael for this." Maggie didn't reply.

After they'd both cursed Nathael for a while, Maggie checked WhatsApp. Their chat history was from days ago. Thinking of the mess he'd caused, Maggie considered blocking him immediately. Her fingers hovered over the block button, but she hesitated several times before ultimately leaving him unblocked.

"Damn it! I owed him a great deal in my past life!"

After more hesitation, Maggie changed his name in WhatsApp and her phone contacts. "Baby Nathael" became "Crazy Old Fool Nathael." She felt much better.

The next day, early in the morning…

Maggie awoke to a call from Nathael. Groggily, she answered, "Who is this?"

"It's me," Nathael said in a deep voice.

Maggie recognized him instantly. Remembering yesterday, she had no desire to speak.

"I'm sorry, sir, you must have the wrong number," she said coldly, rejecting him as if they were strangers.

Nathael was silent for a moment, then slowly asked, "Still mad at me?" His voice was low and gentle, unlike last night's mania. Maggie bit her lip; her heart softened. She remained silent.

He apologized, "Sorry, I'll be more gentle next time."

Maggie almost exploded. "Next time?" she thought. "He still dreams of a next time!"

"Nathael, you are shameless! Morally corrupt! You're worse than an animal! You've lost all humanity!"

Maggie sat up, genuinely furious, her chest heaving.

Nathael chuckled lightly, clearly in a good mood. "Well, this doesn't seem like a big problem," he said softly.

"Mr. Harris, please be reasonable!" Maggie forced a smile, hung up, and threw the phone on the bed.

Nathael remained silent after hearing the busy tone. A few seconds later, he called again, but Maggie ignored it. A jerk like him wasn't worthy of her time.

Nathael waited until the call disconnected. He didn't call again, but sent a WhatsApp message: "Come downstairs and get your breakfast."

Maggie was stunned. She got up and opened the curtains slightly. A Maybach was parked outside; Nathael's car. She hadn't expected him to come. It was only six thirty—this jerk was full of energy!

Since she was silent, Nathael sent another message: "Good girl, do as I said."

Maggie's face flushed. After a brief struggle, she put on a jacket and went downstairs.

Standing in front of the car, Maggie had no intention of getting in. Without looking at Nathael, she reached into the car, saying, "Mr. Harris, I haven't forgiven you. I just think wasting food is a crime."

A hint of a smile touched Nathael's eyes. He said gently, "It's the croissant and coffee from Garnet Street."

Maggie was stunned. She instinctively looked at him, touched. How did he know her favorites? She did like them, but Garnet Street was far away and she rarely went there unless it was convenient.

Looking into his eyes, Maggie felt a little dazed. In her past life, he often bought her favorite snacks. She'd always thought it coincidental, but she knew there were no coincidences.

"Aren't you going to eat it?" Nathael asked gently when she didn't respond.

Maggie came back to her senses and reached for it. As their fingers touched, she saw a red mark on his hand. She paused and asked coldly, "How much?"

Nathael was silent before softly answering, "8 dollars."

Just as she was about to pay, something crossed her mind. A sly look flashed in her eyes. She took out small change from her wallet and shoved it into Nathael's hand. Leaning on the car window, she said with a provocative smile, "The rest is your tip. After all, Mr. Harris put in quite a lot of effort last night." (He'd kissed her for almost an hour; they'd done everything but…)

Nathael squinted, then chuckled. "You're giving me too much. I'll make it up to you next time."

This time, Maggie was stunned. She glared at him in disbelief, stuttering, "M-make up… make up for what?"

Nathael smiled. Roguishness flashed in his eyes. "I can make up for whatever you want."
