Chapter 67: Your Retribution

As Maggie’s words fell, everyone was stunned. Master Cameron said in a deep voice, “Tell me more.”

Maggie paused, then said, “It’s just a feeling. Leo seems easygoing, but he’s not. He’s polite and agreeable, but if you cross him, he can be cruel.” Master Cameron remained silent.

He knew of Leo. He was usually easy to talk to, courteous, and agreeable, regardless of background or status. But this wasn't the whole truth. Leo possessed a ruthless side, showing no mercy to those who crossed him. Because of this, even with his gentle demeanor, people were cautious around him, especially given his rising status among the Calebs. Few dared provoke him. “And with the $1.5 million price tag—that's no small sum. I estimate the profit margin will be slim, if any. Compared to the risks of working with Leo… I suggest we give up,” Maggie said, her voice heavy.

As she expected, this was too harsh. Even cautious Ronald stirred. He frowned. “Is there no other way? We’ve worked hard on this project. Giving up now makes us a laughingstock!” Master Cameron nodded. “Your father’s right. Giving up now lets our competitors win. Even if the Herschire Cultural Park project isn't profitable, we can't give up!”

Maggie frowned. “Then let's find another company. Leo is dangerous. I still have reservations.”

The Camerons fell silent, deep in thought. Olivia frowned, worried that Sierra would still be blamed if the matter remained unresolved. Joseph said, “I’ll contact friends in the next few days to see if anyone can obtain designs from another company.”

Master Cameron nodded. “That’s the only option, but we must keep it confidential. We can’t let anyone know the Camerons are buying designs. Also, Maggie, keep in touch with Leo, find out what he really wants.”

“Okay.”

Her room was at the corridor’s far end. Approaching the door, she encountered a bruised Sierra. Master Cameron’s anger had left her pale and haggard.

“Are Lee’s drawings really unsuitable?” Sierra’s voice was cold. Olivia had clearly explained the situation, making the pampered young lady understand the implications of ruining the project and losing her father’s favor. Sierra was acutely aware of the situation’s progress.

Master Cameron had deducted half a year’s allowance and grounded her for three months. If this continued, she might go crazy. Saving the Herschire Cultural Park project was her only chance. Despite hating Maggie, Sierra approached her.

Maggie smiled. “Apart from being expensive, they’re suitable.”

“What about Leo’s personality…?”

“Leo’s dangerous, but it’s a win-win. They have a design; not using it wastes effort. Better to make a deal and profit.” Maggie anticipated the question and answered without hesitation.

Sierra frowned. “Then why not buy the Calebs’ drawings?”

Maggie leaned closer, her smile widening. “Because I don’t want this to end so easily,” she said.

Sierra was taken aback. “What…?”

“Once the Camerons acquire the Calebs’ designs and secure the Herschire Cultural Park project, won’t your wrongs be erased? If they lose the project, you’ll face Grandpa and Grandma’s disapproval.” Maggie smiled, a hint of satisfaction in her eyes.

Sierra, compliant all day, paled with anger. “Maggie, you’re evil! Your plan won’t work, and I’ll tell everyone! You won’t get away with this!”

Maggie chuckled, her eyes cold and disdainful. She looked at Sierra’s back and whispered, “Do you think they’ll believe you, an ineffective person, or me, the adopted daughter who’s brought millions to the family?”

Sierra was furious. She hadn’t expected Maggie’s arrogance. She looked at the corridor’s surveillance cameras, but it was late; Maggie was concealed in the shadows. Even if captured, the cameras might not record their conversation. “The Camerons raised you, yet you’re treacherous. Aren’t you afraid of karma for sabotaging the family project out of revenge, Maggie?” Sierra’s eyes were red, her voice strained.

Maggie chuckled, finding the situation absurd. I can’t believe she’s talking about karma! she thought. How ironic that ruthless Sierra speaks of karma!

“I never expected you to believe in karma. Everything you’re enduring and will face is your karma,” Maggie said coldly, her eyes filled with hatred. “And remember, you ruined the Herschire Cultural Park project. Blame yourself for being shortsighted! You’re reaping what you sow!”

Sierra trembled with anger. Maggie’s arrogance was infuriating. “Don’t get ahead of yourself. One day, my parents will see your true colors, and your plan will fail!” Sierra glared at Maggie and left.

Maggie smirked, a calculating glint in her eyes. Some things were best left to ruthless, stupid individuals like Sierra.
