Chapter 125
The next morning, Severin was about to hire servants when Felicia, William, and Megan arrived unexpectedly.
"Oh, it's our in-laws! Please, have a seat!" Judith greeted them enthusiastically.
Although their last visit had ended in a quarrel, they were still family. Maurice smiled and greeted Felicia. "Hello, Felicia. We bought some nice tea yesterday. I'll make some for you shortly!"
Felicia felt embarrassed by his politeness and replied courteously, "There's no need to be so formal. We're family, after all."
At that moment, six attractive women emerged from the house, following Diane.
Before Felicia could speak, Megan asked Severin, "What's with all these women?" She eyed their figures. Some seemed sweet, but all were equally attractive.
"We hired them as bodyguards," Severin said awkwardly, a slightly odd expression on his face. They certainly didn't look like typical bodyguards. They were youthful and energetic; a couple wore short jeans, revealing long, slender legs.
Megan folded her arms and sneered. "Bodyguards? Not bad. You can afford bodyguards? But why are they all women? Do they even know how to fight, looking so delicate?"
Diane smiled. "Don't underestimate them, Megan. See that lion statue at the entrance? Any one of them could lift it with one hand. Does that sound strong enough?" Megan turned to see the statue was a head taller than her. Clearly, she was unconvinced.
"Hehe, I didn't know you were such a braggart, Diane! I don't believe it!" Megan scoffed, then addressed the youngest-looking girl. "Go lift it and show me!"
Megan's nasty attitude upset Lillie, who put her hands on her chest and said disdainfully, "Why should I obey you? You're not my boss. I only answer to my boss and his wife."
"Youugh!" Megan gritted her teeth, glaring at Lillie. "You're just a bodyguard! How dare you talk to me like that?"
"I'm a bodyguard, but not your bodyguard. I can choose to ignore your requests," Lillie retorted.
Megan was speechless, eventually complaining to her sister, "Look at your bodyguards' attitude! These are the people you want working for you? You should have hired older men! At least they wouldn't be so disobedient!"
Diane smiled softly. "I think Lillie is right. They work for Severin and me; they have no obligation to listen to you. They're our bodyguards, not the Shanahans'."
Megan, speechless and unable to retort, could only grumble, "Hmph, they probably can't fight and are just showing off. Severin hired pretty faces, not competent bodyguards. Be careful, Diane. He might be having an affair with them!"
