Chapter 128

Severin’s remark stemmed from his love for Diane. Felicia couldn't be angry with him, nor could she refute it.

"Easy for you to say!" Megan sneered. "Where will you get that money without selling the villa? And didn't you say you wanted a grand wedding for my sister?" She continued, "You're just dragging this out. There are still over twenty days remaining, and I bet you're happy to stretch it out that long."

Before Severin could respond, Diane interjected, "Don't worry, Megan. Mom will get the seven and a half million Severin promised—not a cent less! Just wait. The money will be transferred to Mom's account; she just needs to give him the account number."

Megan, seeing Diane's confidence, became flustered. Diane's calm demeanor suggested Severin truly had the money.

"Of course," Diane smiled, putting her arm around Severin. "In my eyes, Severin is a million times better than Edward!"

Severin was overjoyed. This was the first time Diane had initiated physical affection and called him her husband. He felt happiness arriving in small increments, then all at once.

Judith and Maurice, standing nearby, smiled and exchanged a glance.

Wendy, however, frowned slightly. She admired Diane’s gentleness, generosity, and charming smile. Though still affected by Severin’s rejection (through her grandfather), she was becoming more accepting and calmer.

"Really?!" Felicia exclaimed, grabbing her checkbook and writing her account number on a slip of paper for Severin. Her opinion of him changed instantly. "Oh, my dear son-in-law! I'll wait for your good news! Prove yourself in the next twenty days!"

Severin endured Felicia's mercenary attitude, replying with a faint smile, "Relax. I'm a man of my word."

"Okay, I believe you! Don't let me down!" Felicia nodded. "We also wanted to discuss the Liberty City project. Stanley says he can handle it, but I hope he can't!"

Severin frowned, confused.

William stepped forward to explain the Liberty City situation. "We prefer Stanley to fail in securing the quota. If he can't do it within a week, my mother will turn to you. She hopes you can help the Shanahans using your connection with Mr. Henry. If you succeed, she'll appreciate you and Diane more, maybe even allowing Diane to return to the family company."
