Chapter 133

"Megan, what are you doing?" Diane exclaimed, unable to contain herself any longer. "Severin is buying Dad a car so he can drive to work. It's very kind of him. Why should you ask Severin to buy you a car, too? Can you even afford the gas?"

"Hmph! Who says I can't afford gas? As long as I have a car, I can afford it!" Megan snorted coldly, then pressed Severin again. "Oh, come on, you're buying one anyway. Another one won't hurt!"

Severin smiled. "Actually, I don't mind. I'm going to be your brother-in-law, after all. I have enough money to last ten lifetimes. Buying you a car is nothing!"

"Really?" Megan was ecstatic, though still suspicious. If Severin were truly as wealthy as he claimed, she'd get a car. Otherwise, this would be a perfect opportunity to test him and expose his true identity. Either way, it was a win-win for her.

"But you have to call me 'brother-in-law' ten times. Otherwise, no car," Severin said with a sly smile.

"No problem. Brother-in-law, brother-in-law, brother-in-law" Megan readily obliged. She didn't care; for a luxury car, she'd call him anything.

Severin was pleased. As the saying goes, "Gifts blind the eyes." He just needed to secure Megan's support; the rest would fall into place. She would be on his side, and Diane's parents would have no choice but to accept him.

Maurice and Judith exchanged uneasy glances. "Is our son kidding? Does he really have that much money? Maybe the mysterious benefactor did give Severin a fortune. It seems real," they thought.

The extravagance hit Diane hard. She glared at Megan. "Where's your bottom line? You despised Severin before. Why are you so sweet now?"

Megan lifted her chin. "I looked down on him because I thought he was poor. He's clearly richer than I thought, promising me a luxury car. Maybe I judged him wrongly."

Felicia, worried Severin would change his mind, suggested, "Let's go! It's early. We can head to Autocity to buy the car now, then grab lunch afterward."

"That's right! That's right! Severin, you promised! I've called you brother-in-law as you asked. If you don't buy the car, Mom and I will" Megan threatened playfully.

"Sure. Let's take a cab!" Severin agreed.

Later, he said to Diane, "Hey, Diane, why don't we buy a new car, too? Two cars would be more convenient."

Diane looked at him skeptically. "I think you're just feeling bad that they have better cars and want one yourself!"

"Haha! Why not?" Maurice chuckled, breaking his silence. "You're young; you should drive a better car. Mom and I can use the Chevrolet when we're free. Remember, I have a driver's license, not you."
