Chapter 134

Judith rolled her eyes at Maurice and smiled, reminding him, "It's easy. I'll just sign up for a driving course and learn."

Maurice raised an eyebrow. "Now that we have a car, I surely must get a driving license."

Felicia joined in, "Yes! That's the way to think! You're not poor anymore, and you're not that old either. You should definitely learn to drive! Maybe you two can even go on a road trip in the future. Isn't that nice?"

Maurice's eyes sparkled. "Huh? Sounds nice. Felicia, that's a very good suggestion. We can think about road trips!"

Their past poverty was behind them. With money and time, it was time to enjoy life. Megan, excited about owning a car, exclaimed, "Let's go! Let's go! Time to grab a cab!" Leading the way, she added, "There are many cars at Autocity!"

They soon arrived at Autocity. After browsing several shops, Megan frowned, paused, and said, "Severin, can we go look at Mercedes-Benz?" Severin readily agreed. "No problem. Let's go!"

Diane quickly cautioned, "Megan! Severin said anything under $150,000. That includes cars in the $30,000 to $40,000 range. It doesn't have to be nearly $150,000!"

Megan frowned. "Oh, come on! Diane, this is my first car. Why are you spoiling the fun?"

Felicia chimed in, unhappy. "Diane, Severin said it wasn't a problem. Why are you so stingy? We're his family, and he's never bought us anything. Just stand there and watch."

Diane pouted, silent.

Megan spotted a red GLE sports car. "Wow! This is gorgeous! Look how supreme it feels in red! I like this one!" Excitedly, she ran to it, placing herself on the hood and patting it lightly. "Severin, I want this! Can I have it? Does it cost less than $150,000?"

A saleswoman approached, sharply. "Hey, you! What are you doing? You're going to damage the car!" She eyed Megan skeptically. "This car is very expensive. Can you afford it?"

Megan was infuriated. "What the hell are you talking about? How do you know we can't afford it? Don't look down on us!"

The saleswoman sneered, "I've worked here a long time. I can tell who can afford what. Look at what you're wearing. Obviously, you don't look like someone who can afford this. I bet your clothes are cheap."

Megan was speechless. During Diane's time as General Manager, they'd afforded luxury items and designer clothing. The past few years had been leaner, forcing them to buy cheaper clothes. Consequently, even close friends had distanced themselves.

"What's wrong with my clothes? They're perfectly presentable. Just tell me how much this car costs! No, wait. My brother-in-law can afford it!" Megan exclaimed angrily, gritting her teeth, trying to assert herself and intimidate the saleswoman.
