Chapter 24
Trevor asked, "Are you sure your men can fight mine? You barely have half as many bodyguards."
At that moment, a middle-aged man led a group of men toward the hotel, visible through the window. Many barged inside; several hundred had arrived in total.
"We're done for. The men from Draco Hall are here!" Denzel's face fell.
"W-what do we do?" Diane was terrified.
Felicia pushed through the crowd, grabbed Diane's arm, and pulled her toward the Shanahans. "Come here, Diane. Do you want to die with Severin? Don't you care about your daughter?"
William, also pale with fright, took Diane's other arm, helping his wife pull her away from Severin.
Megan urged her sister, "Think about Selene. How would she react if she lost her mother?"
Diane's eyes filled with tears. "But I can't let Selene lose her father! She's dreamed of meeting him, and now he's finally back! What will I tell her if he dies before they even meet?"
Felicia scoffed. "Are you stupid, Diane? Remember Edward Horsfield? He's still in love with you. If necessary, marry him and tell Selene he's her father! Selene never met her father."
Megan added, "Yes! Edward said he'll treat you well, even as his mistress. He's offering a dowry of one and a half million! He discussed it with Mom and Dad yesterday!"
Diane looked at her mother with disappointment. "So that's why you'd rather watch Severin die than help him? He's still Selene's father, and you should treat him like your son-in-law!"
Felicia stared, bewildered. "Him? My son-in-law? Your father and I never accepted him, and if you hadn't called about Selene's father returning, we wouldn't even know!"
William said to Diane, "You know the Loughs have Draco Hall's support. The Shanahans can't help, even if they wanted to. Draco Hall is incredibly powerful. They won't show courtesy to third- or even second-tier upper-class families!"
Felicia pressed, "Leave with us now if you don't want to see Severin die. You don't owe him anything! He owes you after making you suffer these past years! It breaks my heart to see this!"
Silence fell. Chaotic footsteps approached. Dozens of strong men pushed through the crowd, and the surrounding people parted. "Welcome, Sir!" Two lines of Draco Hall's elite shouted in unison to greet Blade, a truly intimidating display.
