Chapter 32

"Enough with the empty promises!" Diane glared at Severin. "Don't just say yes to everything she asks for, or she'll keep asking until we get it!"

Severin smiled. "I'm not making empty promises. Relax. I have money."

Diane rolled her eyes. From her perspective, Severin must have been referring to the money he received from the Orwells.

Soon, they returned to the hotel with Selene and were welcomed into a luxurious private room. Henry and Charmaine's order had already arrived. Looking at the table laden with food, Severin exclaimed with a smile, "This is too much food, Mr. Henry!"

Henry chuckled. "Haha, everything on the menu is delicious, so I figured you might as well try it all. Besides, I didn't know your preferences, so a little extra couldn't hurt!"

Charmaine looked at Selene and said with a faint smile, "Miss Diane, is that your daughter with Severin? She's adorable."

Diane nodded. "Yes. Her name is Selene, and she's just over four years old."

Henry smiled and beckoned them. "Come now, everyone. Sit down and eat! We wouldn't want the food to get cold, would we?"

Diane awkwardly placed a cheap cake on the table. "To be honest, I was planning to celebrate Selene's birthday today. I even bought this cake. She's been looking forward to having cake with her father."

Henry smiled. "Is that so? Since it's Selene's birthday, I wouldn't want to be ungenerous and not give her a present!"

Diane, flattered but embarrassed, explained, "Mr. Henry, her birthday was a while ago, but I forgot to celebrate it because I was busy. She's been asking for cake ever since, and I decided to make it up to her today. Your meal is already more than we could ask for!"

"Haha, that's adorable. Well, birthday or not, I think a gift is in order!" Henry laughed and produced a key, placing it before Diane. "I have a house at Dragon Lake that's been unoccupied. It's quiet, perfect for Severin's parents."

Diane glanced at the key and immediately returned it. "Mr. Henry, we can't possibly. This is priceless!"

She knew it was a villa at Dragon Lake Vista, a highly sought-after residential area on the mountainside with breathtaking views. Even the Shanahans hadn't been able to secure one, not for lack of funds, but due to limited availability and the reluctance of existing owners to sell. The Shanahans, while wealthy, were not among the upper-class families who had first-purchase options.

Henry pushed the key back toward Diane. "Severin saved my life, and I insist on giving you this villa. I know he won't accept money, so I figured this would be appropriate!"

Severin considered this. His parents lived in a dilapidated house, and his wife and daughter were in a cramped rental. Buying a house himself would be a time-consuming process.

"But" Diane frowned and subtly signaled to Severin for help.

Severin smiled, took the key, and pocketed it. "In that case, Mr. Henry, I am very grateful! No gift could be greater!"

The final sentence, "Search the FindNovel.net website on Google to access chapters of novels early and in the highest quality," is clearly an advertisement and should be removed from the cleaned-up text.
