Chapter 52
Easton was furious when he learned Severin had been driving. Having encountered him just hours after the ruined wedding, he felt the world was too small.
Severin, seeing Easton, exited the car. "What's the matter? Going to beat me up again?"
Easton, overwhelmed with rage, wanted to strangle Severin. However, remembering Severin's fighting skills from earlier, he restrained himself, teetering on the edge of explosion. "Don't be impulsive again, Severin!" Judith intervened, worried her son would offend Easton again.
A stylishly dressed woman frowned at Severin. "Is this the hothead you were talking about? The one who caused a ruckus at Easton's wedding and demanded the dowry be returned?" she asked the group.
Patrick replied to his cousin, Jada Stone, "Yup. He made a fuss at Easton's wedding today. Disgusting, isn't it?"
The security guard, overhearing, asked, "Do you know who he is, Miss Jada? Does he own a villa here? He has a key."
Easton sneered. "Him? Own a house here? Ridiculous! He's poor and just got out of prison! How could an ex-convict afford a villa?"
Lucy snickered. "Hehe, why would I marry Easton if that loser could afford a villa? Only the rich can afford a home here! His key is probably fake!" Maurice and Judith, having arrived with her, felt ashamed at the implication that Severin's key might be counterfeit; they doubted he could afford even the rent.
The fat security guard looked coldly at Severin. "The keys are unique and can't be forged. Let me see it."
Severin smiled faintly and handed over the key. After a brief examination, the guard frowned. "It's genuine."
Jada had an idea. "Isn't there a serial number? It won't be hard to find the unit. If it's fake, it's fake. If it's real, he stole it!"
Patrick agreed. "Yeah! He must have stolen a key to steal valuables! I heard some homeowners own millions of dollars worth of artwork!"
The security guard examined the key. "Eight-oh-eight. That's the largest unit on the mountainside, the best location."
Jada laughed. "Hahaha! He stole it! That unit belongs to the Longhorns, but they moved south!"
