Chapter 75
"Ah!" Diane exclaimed, surprised, and blushed. She hadn't expected Severin to lift her so suddenly.
Feeling the strength of Severin's arm and the faint scent of his masculinity, her heart quickened. (The sentence about the website is spam and has been removed.)
"Why are you carrying me?" she said softly, bashfully. "I can walk."
"How, with your swollen ankle? Let me take you to the car," Severin said, striding forward without looking at her.
Diane could only bite her lip and acquiesce.
After Severin left the room, the immense pressure Lucy felt vanished. She collapsed to the ground, terrified by the feeling of utter submission Severin had imposed. She couldn't understand her reaction.
Easton swallowed, walking over to Lucy. He was puzzled; he'd expected Severin to attack him, given their history. Surprisingly, Severin had ignored him.
He looked at Lucy, annoyed. "You knelt for him? Aren't you ashamed to kneel before an ex-convict?"
Lucy, speechless, opened her mouth but couldn't explain the experience.
"Jada, I think my… my equipment might be broken! Get me to a hospital! This is the end!" Patrick cried, curled on the floor.
Jada touched her reddened cheek, furious after Severin's slap and threat. She remained confident that a "loser ex-convict" couldn't harm her family.
She glared at Lucy. "Still on the floor? Get an ambulance for Patrick. I'm going after Severin. We'll see if he leaves this restaurant tonight!" She stormed off.
"Call an ambulance, Lucy!" Easton said, following Jada. Secretly, he was pleased. Severin had thoroughly angered Patrick and Jada. Offending Patrick was minor, but Jada, the eldest daughter of a prominent family, wouldn't let this go. Easton wouldn't need to lift a finger; someone else would handle Severin.
Meanwhile, One-Eye and his subordinates were squatting, heads in their hands, surrounded by men brandishing machetes, ready to strike if they moved. The armed men vastly outnumbered them.
Inside and outside the restaurant were approximately two hundred men, preventing anyone from approaching. The diners had already been evacuated. Blade and his men had arrived earlier; upon seeing Severin in trouble, he'd called for reinforcements.
