Life After Prison by Silencieux-Chapter 85

Listen to this chapter:

Severin sensed things weren't so simple when Blade summoned him. Blade and Larry's eagerness to acknowledge him as Supreme Leader upon seeing the ring seemed excessive.

"So, what's this about?" Severin smiled faintly.

His time in prison with the old man had left him a considerable legacy. Now that the old man was gone, having bequeathed him the Dracodeus Temple, Severin could only accept it. Though it happened without his consent, he was deeply grateful—a debt he could never repay.

"Besides Draco Hall, there are two other gangs in the city: the Cedar Gang and the Emerald Cloud Gang," Larry explained awkwardly. "There's been a lot more conflict lately, especially with the Cedar Gang. They're becoming increasingly arrogant and disregard our people entirely!"

Severin responded calmly, "Our policy is this: unless they provoke us, we don't start anything. If you encounter any situation you can't handle, call me. I'll intervene then."

"Thank you, Supreme Leader!"

Larry and Blade were elated.

"You're welcome. We're family now. I'm off!" Severin smiled and departed.

After Severin left, Blade remarked, "Boss, I'm surprised the Supreme Leader didn't know he was the Supreme Leader!"

"Regardless, he's clearly more than he seems," Larry smiled. "The old Supreme Leader must have had his reasons for choosing Severin. We have nothing to fear from the Cedar Gang next time they come looking for trouble!"

"Haha! I fought that one-eyed guy yesterday and gave him a few slaps. I even chopped off one of his fingers!" Blade laughed.

"Good job!" Larry grinned approvingly.

Severin drove quickly back to Dragon Lake Vista. The guards saluted him respectfully, clearly wary of offending him. Severin returned a faint smile, parked his car in his garage, and exited. Before entering his apartment, he overheard voices. He paused to listen.

"Oh my, Diane. Look at your house! It's so magnificent. Even bigger and more luxurious than ours!"

It was Diane's mother, Felicia. Severin frowned; he'd never known her to visit before.

He felt disgusted by Diane's family, not just for their lack of support at the hotel yesterday. To them, he was merely a penniless ex-con. What angered him most was their attempts to pressure Diane into a relationship with Edward Horsfield. He certainly hadn't expected them to visit now.

Diane smiled. "Mom, this is all thanks to Severin. If he hadn't used his medical knowledge to save Mr. Henry, we wouldn't be living here."

"Diane's right, Mrs. Shanahan," Judith added. "We never imagined we'd live in a villa like this. I still feel like I'm dreaming!"
