Chapter 87
Megan answered, "Diane, why don't you guess? It's good news!"
Diane smiled coldly. "Oh really? I doubt either of you would bring me good news."
Felicia smiled. "Diane, your father and I know you and Selene have suffered. But it was for your own good. We were afraid you'd suffer if you kept the baby, especially since you wouldn't tell us who the father was. We had no choice. Catherine wanted to throw you out, and for the sake of the family, we couldn't stop her."
Diane smiled faintly. "It's in the past. I only hope the future improves for all of us."
Felicia smiled. "Of course it will. We're here to bring you back home."
Diane was stunned. She never expected this.
"That's right, Diane. You can come home now!" Megan repeated.
Judith and Maurice exchanged worried glances. Diane's family hadn't mentioned Severin or Selene. Are they leaving Selene behind? they wondered.
William smiled. "Diane, it's not just you. Severin and Selene can come too!"
"Yes!" Judith exclaimed, thrilled. "Your parents love you. Accepting you, Selene, and Severin shows they've let go of the past. It's wonderful!"
"That's right! Pack your things and come home today!" Felicia said. But Diane didn't look happy. She frowned, deep in thought.
Megan was curious. "What's wrong, Diane? Do you want to come back? Or don't you want us to accept Selene and Severin?"
After a pause, Diane said, "Why did Catherine change her mind? Why is she letting us return?"
Felicia looked embarrassed, but forced a smile. "It's been years. Catherine was always fond of you! She thought you disgraced the family by getting pregnant. But look how grown your daughter is now. What's there to hold onto? We're family."
"That's right! Come back, Diane!" Megan urged. "Even though Severin is well, he's Selene's father, and we'll accept him." Judith and Maurice looked embarrassed and remained silent.
The gap between the families remained vast. They knew Severin was hardworking and kind to them, but he wasn't a suitable match for a Sanahan. This made Judith and Maurice feel inferior when facing Diane's family.
Diane was unhappy with Megan's description of Severin. "Who are you calling an imbecile? He's passionate, knowledgeable about medicine, and brave. He fought for us when we were bullied!"
"What good is bravery without power? It's idiotic!" Megan retorted.
