Chapter 88
Megan looked disgusted. "I know you're living in this big villa now, but if you don't work hard, you'll have trouble paying the maintenance fees. And Selene's old enough for preschool. Don't tell me you're going to enroll her in some lousy school. A child's education is very important!"
Diane retorted, "None of you need to worry about that!"
Megan sputtered, "You…!" Anger rendered her speechless. [Remove the promotional sentence about FindNovel.net]
Diane's personality was different from what Megan remembered. Had Severin influenced her in the few days since his return?
Seeing Diane's reaction, Felicia changed tactics, adopting a more emotional approach. She knelt before Diane, taking her hand. "Diane, I've missed you terribly. Don't think I haven't worried about you! We were all worried sick, afraid you were struggling, but we were too afraid to contact you. What if your grandmother found out and kicked us out too?"
Tears welled in Felicia's eyes. Diane's heart softened. These were her parents and sister. And William had secretly helped her in the past.
Looking at William's hopeful face, she said, "I need to ask Severin. He's my husband; I need to discuss it with him."
"What? He's going to be overjoyed to live with us! He'll be part of the Sanahans. Sure, some of the other wealthy families might look down on him, but he'll still be a Sanahan, and businessmen will respect him!" Megan declared.
Severin had been eavesdropping. He was pleased with Diane's handling of the situation. She was taking his and his parents' side against Felicia and Maurice—more than enough for him.
He entered the villa. "Diane, I overheard. You can decide. I'll listen to you from now on." Diane's heart warmed. "Really?"
Severin shrugged. "Of course. You're a Sanahan. It's good your family wants you back. I bet you miss them too." Diane was happy.
"Well? Severin agrees. Will you come back?" Megan asked hopefully.
Diane smiled. "But will he be returning as my husband…or what?"
"Definitely as a live-in son-in-law! He's moving in with us, isn't he?" Felicia declared dismissively. "He got lucky meeting you. Otherwise, how would he ever live with us?"
Severin's face darkened. His mouth twitched; he gritted his teeth, suppressing his anger at Diane's past suffering because of him. Being a live-in son-in-law meant enduring mistreatment from the Sanahans.
Diane considered this. "Dad, Mom, I'll visit when I can. I'm willing to let the past go. We're family, and I'll visit. But I won't let other Sanahans look down on my husband. I won't let him suffer, and I won't let him be a live-in son-in-law!"
