Chapter 96
"That's not all, right? You still need to apologize to him!" William said.
"Fine, I'll apologize if it makes you happy. Having seven and a half million dollars is going to make our lives a whole lot better. Unlike the past few years, I won't have to think twice before buying something!" Felicia said indifferently.
Megan, standing beside them, still wore a bitter expression. "But I don't want to wash his feet! Why was I so stupid to bet with him? Damn it! I was so angry, I didn't consider he might sell the house!"
Then, Megan smirked. "He might not succeed. We set a deadline, and selling a house in a month is unlikely. Besides, it's very expensive, so we might not lose!"
William countered, "Do you know what kind of house it is? It's a status symbol! Ordinary houses are harder to sell, but these are in high demand. Once listed, countless people will want it. Your grandma might even buy it! It won't take a month—two or three days, at most. It'll sell immediately!"
Megan looked distraught. "So I'm doomed? Can I take back my word? If people find out I washed a 'country bumpkin's' feet, they'll laugh! How can I face anyone?"
Felicia knocked Megan's forehead. "Are you stupid? 'Cash is king'! Remember how people looked down on us when we were broke? Just wash his feet. We won't tell anyone. Once I get the money, I'll give you $150,000!"
Megan pouted. "That's all? Why not $1.5 million? He wouldn't have bragged about a $7.5 million dowry if I hadn't helped you provoke him."
William shook his head. "You haven't even gotten the money, and you're already splitting it? Did Mr. Henry actually give Severin the right to sell the house? What if Mr. Henry disagrees?"
Felicia disagreed. "Why would he? He gave it as a gift. Severin owns it and can sell it. The Longhorns are a wealthy family; they wouldn't ask for it back. Even if Mr. Henry is unhappy, he can only keep quiet. Makes sense?"
Approaching their villa, they encountered Catherine and Stanley.
Catherine frowned. "I thought you were picking up Diane? Why are only you three here? Where are Diane and Severin?"
Felicia frowned and looked at William. "Y-y-you tell her!" William's lips twitched. Felicia was usually so strong-willed.
He said awkwardly, "Dianesheumsaid she won't come back unless you fetch her!"
Felicia added, "And she wants you to apologize."
Catherine slammed her crutch on the ground. "She wants me to pick her up and apologize? Who does she think she is? She should be grateful I didn't hold her giving birth to that bastard child against her. She can dream on!"
Stanley said, "Diane is shameless! Ignore her, Grandma. Let her stay with Severin. She's probably a masochist. Who'd choose poverty over a good life?"
Stanley was relieved. He feared Diane returning to fight him for the family property. He was happy she preferred humiliation.
