Chapter 98

Catherine realized she would make a fool of herself, as Stanley pointed out. However, considering the project's benefits, she frowned and asked, "Do you have a better solution?"

"I I do!"

Stanley gritted his teeth. "Don't worry. I'll find a way to handle Charmaine. If I can get to the Longhorns' eldest daughter, securing the project quota will be much easier."

William, aware of Stanley's fear of Diane usurping his position, asked, "Can we rely on that? Time's running out!"

"Of course, Uncle William! Don't underestimate me! Give me a week, and it's done!" Stanley assured them, patting his chest.

William, satisfied with the assurance, turned to his mother. "Mom, you went overboard five years ago. You can't expect Diane not to be angry; we kicked her out when she was pregnant—"

"What are you saying, William?" Catherine interrupted coldly. "Should I lower myself, apologize, and beg her to return?"

William quickly said, "No! That's not what I meant. She shouldn't expect an apology. We shouldn't make things more awkward. What if Stanley fails? We can't abandon this option!"

Catherine frowned, considering his point. "If you have a better suggestion, now's the time."

William explained, "Mom, Diane said she'd forgive the past. She just doesn't want to move back. She's not married to Severin, but she'll live with him. If they moved back, Severin would be a live-in son-in-law, and she's worried he wouldn't be happy."

Felicia added, "That's right! She'll visit, stay for a few days, but not live here. If we insist she move back, you need to apologize and bring her back!"

Catherine declared, "I will never apologize. Since she claims she's married, she can live with her husband. But her marriage is disgraceful! The Shanahans don't allow such marriages!"

Felicia continued, "Mom, I was angry too. Severin didn't help persuade Diane; he supported her! We argued, and he said he'd give Diane a proper wedding and a dowry of seven and a half million dollars within a month to prove her right to be with him!"

"Seven and a half million? Can he afford that?" Catherine chuckled. "Seven and a half million and a grand wedding? That's a hefty sum!"

Felicia said, "Exactly! He probably plans to sell the villa Mr. Henry gave him."

Catherine's face soured. "Don't let him sell that house! Understand?"
