Chapter 42
Marilyn quietly avoided Kendrick's hand and looked out the window. "My parents just wanted me to get close to you. We aren't a couple yet," she said. Her eyes were full of worry.
Marilyn pondered, "As Kendrick said, the Hoffman family will definitely go after Robert after dealing with the current situation. Can the Labelle family save Robert? Robert, what did you do to make Mr. Hoffman so angry?"
Kendrick glanced at Marilyn's indifferent expression. His hatred for Robert intensified.
"Robert cultivated a relationship with the Labelle family, but he offended the Hoffmans," Kendrick mused. "Given that he angered Stephen and caused his hospitalization, the Labelle family won't be able to protect him."
Thinking this, Kendrick immediately called someone. "Contact the Labelle family. I have something important to tell them!"
Meanwhile, Robert, driving back to Yrinas, received a call from Naomi.
"Robert, you were so awesome today," Naomi's delicate voice purred. Anyone else hearing it would have been quite impressed.
Robert smiled helplessly. After several interactions, he understood Naomi's personality. Though bold in her words, she remained somewhat conservative.
"What's wrong?" he asked.
Naomi laughed. "Today, so many people treated you like my future husband. My family also wants to meet their future son-in-law."
Robert scratched his ear. "I'll hang up if you don't get to the point."
Naomi scolded, "You're such a cold man! All sweetness at night? Refusing to acknowledge our relationship during the day? Humph! Let's get down to business. The Zabinski Group has always had business dealings with the Labelle Group, but something's happened recently, involving the Zabel Group of Acocester. Want to know more?"
"Okay, I'll come to your company," Robert replied, hanging up.
Carlos, driving, didn't ask questions. He changed lanes and headed for the Labelle Group.
An hour later, Robert sat in Naomi's office. She was dressed in a professional business suit, a stark contrast to her usual attire. Naomi instructed her secretary to make coffee for Robert and Carlos.
"Please chat, Mr. Zabinski. I have something to attend to," Carlos said with a smile, rising. "Another driver has been arranged."
"Mr. Camidge, wait," Naomi said courteously. "I'll take Robert home later. No need for another driver."
"Understood. Thank you, Ms. Labelle," Carlos replied, bowing slightly before leaving.
Alone with Robert, Naomi's demeanor shifted instantly. The dignified woman from moments before became playful and alluring. Her black, figure-hugging skirt was tight, accentuating her figure. She bent slightly, teasing Robert with a glimpse of her form.
Leaning close, a playful smile on her face, Naomi whispered, "Robert, we're alone. Why so reserved?"
Robert had to admit Naomi was stunning. She could be both dignified and flirtatious.
