Chapter 1090: Confession
Emmanuel sighed. Now that Terence knew, secrecy was pointless.
After a moment's thought, he said, "Grandpa, I need to tell you something, but you must promise to keep it a secret. Disclosure would have dire consequences."
Terence raised an eyebrow. "Is it that serious?"
"Yes, Grandpa. Do you still want to hear it?" Emmanuel's earnest gaze conveyed immense pressure.
Emmanuel sighed again. Terence had figured it out; further concealment was futile.
"Haha, of course," Terence chuckled. "I'm all ears. I need to hear this."
Near the end of his life, what did a secret matter? His curiosity about his grandson-in-law's true identity and character far outweighed it.
"I'm the retired Wolf Warrior from the Northern Region, currently on a difficult mission."
"What?" Despite his mental preparations, Emmanuel's confession shocked Terence.
"Three and a half years ago, the Chairman of the Chanaea Chamber of Commerce colluded with foreign enemies, sparking a war. The Northern Region defended the Chanaea border, resulting in the deaths of tens of thousands. The Wolf Warrior Corps was also decimated."
"I'm currently in Yeringham, using a false identity, biding my time to strike against the enemy nation. I seek revenge for Chanaea, the Northern Region, and my fallen comrades." Having revealed his identity, Emmanuel freely shared his goal.
Terence gasped, disbelief etched on his face. "The Chairman of the Chamber of Commerce, Teddy Mole?"
As Yeringham's wealthiest man, Terence knew Mole well. Compared to Mole's wealth and power, Terence felt insignificant. He suspected Emmanuel planned to assassinate him.
"That's correct," Emmanuel nodded.
Terence cautioned, "Are you aware of his connections to influential families and corporations? Successfully assassinating him could trigger significant chaos in Chanaea, potentially entangling the Quillen family." He offered this as reassurance, not as a deterrent.
Even knowing Emmanuel's target, Terence had no intention of distancing himself.
"Of course," Emmanuel affirmed. "My plan is to oust him as Chamber of Commerce President, isolate him, and then eliminate him."
Terence looked flustered. He leaned on his cane, pacing before saying, "So, your strategy involves leveraging the Quillen family's entry into the Chamber of Commerce to bring Teddy down?"
"That's right," Emmanuel nodded, appreciating Terence's understanding.
Terence eyed Emmanuel suspiciously. "You didn't plan this from the beginning, did you? Being the Wolf Warrior, you might have been feigning weakness."
Emmanuel quickly clarified, "Grandpa, please understand. I only took on this mission after marrying Mackenzie. If you don't want the Quillen family involved, I won't use them."
Terence furrowed his brow, deep in thought. After a pause, he sighed. "I've heard about Teddy's actions. He has a notorious reputation. Rumor has it he killed his brothers to seize power, leading to the Tanner family's disintegration. To become Chamber President, he assassinated opponents. I never imagined he'd collude with foreign enemies, sparking a war that drenched the Chanaea border in blood. Chanaea is unfortunate to have such a villain."
Emmanuel listened silently, his anger reignited. For personal gain, Mole had sacrificed tens of thousands, destroying the Wolf Warrior Army. Revenge was essential.
"Emmanuel, this is serious. I can't help you directly," Terence admitted. "However, I'll transfer the Quillen family's assets to Mackenzie. That won't change. Whether she assists you is her decision."
