Chapter 11: The Couple's Scheme

Tia intervened, saying sternly, "Roselynn is a wonderful person. Perhaps this is a misunderstanding?"

"Hmph! Misunderstanding? She tried to seduce my man, then attacked him when she failed. She's clearly terrible!" Milani retorted, throwing a drink in Roselynn's face.

Roselynn's blood boiled. She could tolerate insults, but not physical assault. Roaring, "How dare you?! Die!" she slapped Milani.

Milani, anticipating this, dramatically fell to the ground before the blow landed, then poured the remaining drink on herself. "Ah, don't hit me! Please! Help! Help!" she cried, attracting attention.

Emmanuel, searching for his sister, heard the commotion. Jaxton, however, acted first, kicking Roselynn in the lower back. She fell hard, the impact jarring her.

"What's going on?" the onlookers exclaimed.

Jaxton pointed at Roselynn, shouting, "Roselynn, our relationship ended ages ago! Don't bother me, and don't touch my partner! Otherwise, I'll kill you!"

The crowd buzzed.

"An ex-lover resorting to violence?" "Mr. Oatley's ex-wife is known for violence. The rumors are true." "How did someone like her get into this party?"

Jaxton and Milani were pleased with the unfolding narrative. Milani winked at Jaxton; he gave her a thumbs-up. They controlled public opinion; Roselynn wouldn't escape easily.

Sprawled on the ground, Roselynn felt the whispers and stares like needles. She felt the terrifying power of the upper class. To them, Jaxton was a rising entrepreneur; she was a violent ex-wife, beneath their notice. The truth didn't matter; self-interest reigned. She grudgingly admired their tactics, echoing the online sentiment: "Exes and h*es truly deserve one another!"

She thought of Emmanuel. Together, they could easily retaliate.

"Damn it!" Emmanuel stormed toward the scene, then stopped.

Raymond, with Julian in tow, arrived. Milani, recognizing them as hosts of the Summerton family's party, began to wail, "Mr. Summerton, Mr. Blackwell! This woman attacked me!"

The guests, mostly unaware of the prior events, sided with Jaxton. Several had witnessed Roselynn's attack.

Everyone expected Julian to join Jaxton, but he unexpectedly slapped Milani hard across the face. The sound was sharp and loud. Fortunately, Milani's face wasn't surgically enhanced; otherwise, the slap might have caused serious damage.
