Chapter 28

Emmanuel felt awkward nodding to greet Claudette. Why would this gorgeous woman address Roselynn so affectionately, yet call him "Dr. Lowe"? It made him sound much older than Roselynn.

"Ah, Claudette! We were just talking about you!" Roselynn said, holding Claudette's hand after hugging her. The two women seemed such good friends that Emmanuel couldn't discern any superior-subordinate dynamic.

"Huh? Talking about me? What were you two talking about?"

Claudette grew nervous at this, eyeing Emmanuel from head to toe. Fearing he'd notice, she quickly averted her gaze, striving to appear calm. Her only previous encounter with him was during her treatment, and the memory made her face burn bright red. She felt completely exposed in his presence.

"Manny and I would like to see the banquet hall upstairs. Could you take us, Claudette?" Roselynn asked.

Claudette felt both relieved and disappointed.

"Oh, that's what you two were talking about? Sure thing!" She agreed readily.

"Thanks, Ms. Lenoir. I might be able to find my sister a suitable boyfriend!" Emmanuel quipped, demonstrating his surprising wit. Seeing Roselynn and Claudette's closeness, he felt comfortable sharing his plans.

"Heh… You're welcome! You know, I can help recommend some guys to your sister if she's looking for a boyfriend!" Claudette replied with a smile.

"That would be great! I'll be counting on you to recommend any CEOs or handsome male friends to my sister!" Emmanuel said before Roselynn could respond.

"No problem at all!" Claudette promised, giving an "OK" gesture.

Roselynn was surprised by the friendly interaction between Claudette and Emmanuel, especially their collaboration to find her a husband. She wondered, Why does it feel like Claudette only has eyes for Manny? I'm the one she's close with!

"What about you, Dr. Lowe? If I recall correctly, your sister told me you were struggling to find a girlfriend. Do you need me to recommend some pretty women from wealthy families?" Claudette asked suddenly.

Caught off guard, Emmanuel fell silent. Roselynn was equally surprised. That's strange… I don't remember Claudette being so friendly with other guys, let alone offering to find them girlfriends! Everyone knows Claudette is very ambitious; she wouldn't have time to chat up random guys! Is she being friendly to Manny because he's my brother?

"Actually, I'm already married, Ms. Lenoir."

"Huh?"

Emmanuel's revelation stunned Claudette. While Emmanuel and Roselynn were oblivious, Lexi, Emmanuel's observer, noticed something amiss in Claudette's behavior. Hmm… Ms. Lenoir seems rather interested in Ms. Mackenzie's husband! Is Ms. Lenoir in love with him? Heh… If she is, things are definitely going to get interesting! Regardless, I should let Ms. Mackenzie see this! Lexi quickly took pictures, intending to show them to Mackenzie later.

Claudette, looking angry, questioned Roselynn, "Have you been lying to me, Roselynn? You told me two weeks ago that your brother never had a girlfriend! Why is he already married now?"

Roselynn chuckled wryly. "You'll have to ask him about that. I had no idea until he told us a few days ago!"
