Chapter 821: Calling Felicity
The three arrived at the entrance of the Yociam Residence, where Wally waited.
"Ms. Quillen, here are the keys to your house in Riverview Enclave," Wally said, handing a bunch of keys to Mackenzie, who passed them to Roselynn. "Roselynn, you can stay there for now. Let's not worry Mom about the Oatleys' matter just yet!"
"Okay, thank you, Mackenzie!" Roselynn hugged Mackenzie gratefully.
Emmanuel was surprised Mackenzie didn't resist. He couldn't recall when his wife and sister had hugged so intimately.
Wally was even more surprised. While Emmanuel was uncertain, Wally was sure Mackenzie never hugged anyone.
"Wally, could you help Roselynn get there?" Mackenzie instructed after the hug.
"Yes, Ms. Quillen!"
After Wally escorted Roselynn away, the couple walked into the residential area. It was late.
Emmanuel felt touched and concerned. His wife had invested considerable emotional energy into his family's affairs recently. He needed to help her resolve the situation at Terence Group quickly.
Mackenzie thought that, although the Quillen family was short on funds, helping Roselynn should be manageable. However, she would have to discuss this with her grandfather.
The next day, Terence received a call from Mackenzie.
"So, you're saying Emmanuel's sister wants something?" After listening for a while, Terence contemplated. "In the past, this would be easy, but recently, Terence Group is facing financial difficulties. I've imposed restrictions on our other industries and divested some less profitable ones."
Mackenzie was aware of this. She wouldn't have brought it up if it weren't Emmanuel's sister. She knew informing the other Quillen women would likely cause another family crisis, but she still mentioned it. Her grandfather's response, while disappointing, was also a relief.
"Grandfather, if you can't help—"
"It's not that we can't help!" Terence interrupted, enthusiastically. "Roselynn is Emmanuel's sister; our family must assist her. I'll call Felicity and ask her to return for a while. She still has some family assets in her name."
Mackenzie was surprised. Felicity had fallen out with Samantha and had previously engaged in theft at the Quillen residence. Her return would undoubtedly trigger another family crisis.
"I know what you're thinking, but we, as a family, still need to resolve this with her, no?"
Terence's words reminded Mackenzie of Emmanuel's earlier statement. She and Felicity were still mother and daughter. As the Quillen family's business leader, she had to handle this properly.
Chapter 833
Magnus's phone call secured paid leave for the girl's parents, who rushed to Beacon Hospital. He also gave the girl a check, encouraging her, "Don't give up. You'll overcome this illness eventually!"
"Thank you, mister…" the little girl cried.
Witnesses were moved to tears and applauded. Rhea was no exception. She couldn't tell if Magnus was sincere or pretending, but he'd performed a great act of kindness.
After helping the girl, Magnus left the ward.
"Everyone, Mr. Magnus prefers to remain low-key. Please don't follow him!" Blake stopped the hospital staff.
Many wished to follow Magnus, seeing him as a prince. Even the Verkade CEO seemed overshadowed. Rhea felt the same but respected Magnus's wish.
In another ward, Jessica kept vigil by her hospitalized brother when she heard the commotion about Magnus, one of the Zovince Four Geniuses. She called her father, believing their family wouldn't need to worry about the Quillens if they could connect with Magnus.
She searched for Magnus, having already seen his pictures on social media. While not exceedingly handsome, his aristocratic air made him resemble a fairytale prince. She failed to find him, but spotted his black Corolla and waited. To her surprise, Magnus and Blake approached. Gautier had already left. Magnus appeared astonishingly handsome to Jessica.
"Mr. Magnus!" Jessica ran towards him excitedly.
"May I ask who you are, beautiful lady?" Magnus remained polite.
"I… I'm Jessica Oatley. I admire you greatly and want to get to know you!" Jessica gasped, her usual haughty demeanor humbled.
Blake, hands behind his head, chuckled, thinking Magnus was skilled at this. He'd come to Beacon Hospital that day not only to improve his image and get close to the Oatleys but also to use them against the Quillens. He could have the Oatleys come to him, and, surprisingly, Magnus even tried to lure Jessica.
"That would be my honor, Miss Oatley. Goodbye."
"No!"
Jessica grabbed Magnus's hand, making him frown slightly. "What is the meaning of this, Ms. Oatley?"
Jessica, biting her lip, blurted, "You've come to do charity, right? Can you also help my brother?"
Chapter 824
"No, that woman may not be steadfast, but she will definitely help me bring down the Quillen family!" Magnus said confidently. "Even if she doesn't want to, she is the sharpest sword that can pierce the Quillen family's century-old foundation!"
"It's such a hassle talking to someone like you," Blake criticized. "But I'm curious to see how you'll use this sword."
"I will definitely pierce through it," Magnus chuckled. "I have forged many swords, and sooner or later, they will pierce the Quillen family's steel frame. Only by forcing the Quillen family into a corner will Terence, that old fox, be willing to reveal certain things!"
In the evening, Emmanuel arrived at Terence Group to pick up Mackenzie a little after 5 p.m.
"Emmanuel, head to the Quillen residence with me today!"
"Oh? What's the occasion?"
"I've arranged a meeting with Felicity!"
"Mom's coming back today? Why didn't you tell me in advance?" Emmanuel was nervous.
Mackenzie realized she'd overlooked this and smiled. "What would you have done if I told you in advance?"
"I would've gone to buy some tea right away!" Emmanuel remembered his promise to Felicity.
Mackenzie smiled ambiguously. Seeing Emmanuel buy two blocks of premium tea, Mackenzie was curious. "Where did you, an unemployed wanderer, get so much money?"
Emmanuel anticipated this. "My medical skills aren't cheap, and recently, I have saved quite a few wealthy patients!"
"Claudette?" Mackenzie immediately thought of her love rival.
Emmanuel shook his head, melancholic.
"What's wrong? Have I hit a nerve?" Mackenzie asked, annoyed.
"It's not time to be upset yet!" Emmanuel responded seriously. "There may still be hope for Claudette, even if that chance is only one in a hundred thousand."
Mackenzie was taken aback. How could Claudette still be alive after falling off a cliff?
"Never mind, let's not talk about this. Let's hurry back! Felicity is probably already back at the Quillen residence!"
"Yeah, I hope you can have a good chat with her and resolve her grievances," Emmanuel said. "A harmonious family brings everything prosperity. If you can get your mother and the Quillen family on the same page, it would be worth more than a 10-billion deal!"
Mackenzie stared at Emmanuel.
"What's wrong? Is there something on my face?" Emmanuel asked curiously.
"Idiot!" Mackenzie said, intending to praise him.
