Chapter 831

“Haha, well said!” Terence quickly applauded, giving Emmanuel a mental thumbs-up. Mackenzie seemed to appreciate Emmanuel’s attitude. Regardless, I’d already told Emmanuel everything. If he doesn't get Mackenzie pregnant soon, I’ll give him another piece of my mind!

“I don’t know, and I don’t care if you got rich through Mackenzie, but I’m done managing the clothing store. It’s worthless now, so consider it a gift from your mother-in-law,” Felicity added generously. She enjoyed seeing the Quillen women deflate, and, having reconciled with Mackenzie, she saw this as an opportunity to improve her relationship with her daughter-in-law by giving her the asset.

“Thank you, Mother, but since I said I’d acquire it, I’ll pay you,” Emmanuel insisted.

Felicity’s lips quirked; she clearly disliked his persistence.

“I’ll help you two settle this,” Mackenzie said, tired of the bickering. Turning to Samantha, she tried to soothe her. “Aunt Samantha, Felicity is still family. We shouldn’t fight and become a laughingstock. She’s promised to cooperate and stop giving away family assets. Let’s give her a chance, okay?”

Samantha was momentarily speechless. Their animosity couldn't be resolved easily, but she yielded to Mackenzie's intervention and remained silent. Hannah and Sophie mirrored Samantha’s attitude. They might distrust Felicity, but they wouldn’t confront Mackenzie, especially with Terence present.

“It’s settled, then!” Terence declared, turning to Felicity. “Felicity, I won’t hold onto past grievances. I hope you’ll be happy here.”

Felicity nodded silently.

“Sophie, let’s go!” Hannah said, leaving with Sophie. Samantha sighed, gently patting Mackenzie’s hand. “Be careful, and don’t be deceived!”

Mackenzie smiled faintly. “I know.” The situation was unpleasant. Her mother and husband couldn't gain her family's trust. How could she mediate?

“Mackenzie is becoming increasingly confused,” Hannah and Sophie whispered as they left, their voices loud enough to be heard. “Terence Group’s management has deteriorated since her marriage. Worst of all, she ignores our advice. This will ruin our family!” “Exactly. Despicable rouges are in charge!”

Mackenzie’s mood worsened. Emmanuel was also worried. If Terence Group faltered, his marriage might suffer. He had to help stabilize the situation.

The next day, Rhea started at Beacon Hospital, only to discover her idol no longer worked there.

“Hey, Rhea, a big shot’s coming for a charity event! Let’s go see,” a fellow nurse said, linking arms with Rhea.

Chapter 832

Rhea was curious and decided to go. At the south gate, many reporters were already waiting. She wondered how they’d gotten the news before she did, even as the hospital director’s daughter.

Soon, Juan and the management team arrived to welcome the event’s guest, and a black Corolla pulled up.

“Wow, Mr. Magnus is really low-key!” “Who knew a trillion-dollar heir would drive such a car?!” “If we hadn’t had inside information, we wouldn’t know he was in Yeringham for charity!” “A true philanthropist!”

The crowd chattered. Rhea found their comments distasteful. Did they really believe Mr. Magnus would announce his charity anonymously?

The Corolla door opened, and Magnus, Blake, and Gautier emerged. Reporters swarmed them.

“Mr. Magnus, it’s rumored you do charity everywhere. Is that true?” “Are you here for charity or Miss Claudette Lenoir?”

Magnus maintained a gentle smile but didn’t answer.

“Sorry, Mr. Magnus isn’t here for a press conference. Please refrain from taking photos or interviews!” Mackenzie stepped forward, blocking the reporters.

Attention shifted to Gautier.

“Mr. Verkade, your father is a great philanthropist, but you haven’t been involved. Will you inherit his legacy?”

Gautier smiled charmingly. “I’m here to accompany Mr. Magnus. The Verkade family will always support charity. Thank you!”

Thunderous applause erupted. Gautier knew he’d be in the Yeringham news. Mackenzie, however, was likely overwhelmed with Terence Group’s issues. It seemed only one of Yeringham’s CEOs would remain.

Hospital security eventually dispersed the reporters. Juan warmly welcomed Magnus and his companions, leading them to visit patients. Rhea followed.

Watching Magnus’s gentle demeanor and generosity, Rhea was surprised. She’d heard he was Claudette’s admirer and Emmanuel’s rival. She’d imagined him as an arrogant antagonist, but he seemed gentle and kind. Had she been wrong?

“I wish my parents were with me.” A little girl said, her parents working out of town and rarely visiting.

Magnus smiled warmly. “Alright, I’ll make your wish come true!”

Chapter 833

Magnus called, arranging paid leave for the girl’s parents, who rushed to the hospital. He also gave the girl a check. “Don’t give up. You’ll overcome this illness!”

“Thank you, mister…” the little girl sobbed.

Many were moved to tears. Rhea was no exception. She couldn’t tell if Magnus was sincere, but his act was undeniably kind.

Magnus left the ward. Blake stopped the staff from following. Many, however, saw him as a prince, even overshadowing Gautier. Rhea felt the same but respected Magnus’s wish.

In another ward, Jessica, keeping vigil by her brother’s side, learned Magnus had arrived. She called her father, believing a connection with Magnus would neutralize the Quillens’ influence.

She searched for Magnus, seeing his pictures on social media. He wasn’t exceptionally handsome, but his aristocratic air was princely. She failed to find him but spotted his black Corolla and waited. Magnus and Blake approached. Gautier had already left.

To Jessica, Magnus was astonishingly handsome.

“Mr. Magnus!” Jessica ran towards him.

“May I ask who you are, beautiful lady?” Magnus remained polite.

“I… I’m Jessica Oatley. I admire you and want to get to know you!” Jessica gasped, her usual haughtiness replaced with humility.

Blake chuckled, watching Magnus. He’d come to Beacon Hospital to improve his image, get close to the Oatleys, and use them against the Quillens. Magnus, surprisingly, seemed to be attempting to lure Jessica. “That would be my honor, Miss Oatley. Goodbye.”

“No!” Jessica grabbed Magnus’s hand, making him frown slightly. “What is the meaning of this, Ms. Oatley?”

Jessica bit her lip. “You’re doing charity, right? Can you help my brother?”

Chapter 834

A faint smile touched Magnus’s lips, quickly replaced with reluctance. Blake pushed Jessica aside. “Hey, don’t be shameless. Mr. Magnus is busy!”

Magnus knew Jessica’s conniving nature. As expected, she dramatically collapsed, screaming for sympathy.

“Ms. Oatley, are you alright?” Magnus approached, then reprimanded Blake. “How can you be so rude to a woman?!”

Blake snorted and left.

“Please help our family, Mr. Magnus! We’re in a miserable situation!” Jessica seized the opportunity, clinging to Magnus’s hand.

“Well… alright!” Magnus feigned hesitation. “To express my apology, I will do my best!”

Jessica cheered inwardly, maintaining a pitiful expression. She believed the Oatley family would praise her for connecting with one of the Zovince Four Geniuses. Blake secretly mocked her naiveté. He’d come to use the Oatleys against the Quillens.

An hour later, Sebastian and Jennifer arrived at their son’s room. Seeing Magnus, Sebastian shook his hand respectfully.

“Dad, Mr. Magnus is here for charity. He’ll help Jaxton!” Jessica winked at her father. She’d exaggerated Roselynn’s cruelty and Mackenzie’s bullying.

Sebastian understood but remained cautious. “Mr. Magnus, how can you help us?”

Magnus smiled. “Ms. Oatley gave me the details. Ms. Quillen bullied your family to control your business. You’ll be free if you leave Terence Group and find an alternative path. Then you can seek justice for Mr. Jaxton Oatley.”

Blake chuckled. “What’s the point of living when you’ve been emasculated? Sad, very sad!”

“Ah! I’m going to kill that woman! She deserves to die!” Jaxton screamed, emotionally distraught.

Jennifer wept. Magnus shook his head pitifully. It was a performance of shameless vying.

“Dad, discuss the details with Mr. Magnus! This is a once-in-a-lifetime chance!” Jessica whispered.

Sebastian said to Magnus, “Thank you, but our business is small. It’s hard to break free from Terence Group.”

Magnus assessed Sebastian; he wasn’t as easily manipulated as Jessica. “Coincidentally, I know a friend in the energy business. Perhaps you could collaborate. The profits might match Terence Group’s.”

Sebastian’s face lit up.

Chapter 335

“What are you doing, hesitating, Sebastian? Hurry and agree!” Jennifer exclaimed.

She’d been frustrated by her husband’s fear of the Quillens. They were fools not to seize this opportunity!

“Shut up!” Sebastian said, despite the temptation.

Jennifer was furious. The Oatley siblings felt the same; their father's image suffered.

“Mr. Magnus, who is this friend?” Sebastian asked.

“The Lenoir Group!” Magnus smiled. “I’m close with the Lenoirs, prominent in Yeringham’s energy industry.”

“Ah, the Lenoir Group!” Sebastian wasn’t excited. Lenoir Group was major, but weaker than the Quillens. They’d choose the Quillens.

“What do you think, Mr. Oatley?” Magnus asked, avoiding excessive enthusiasm.

“Thank you for your kind offer, Mr. Magnus. Can I consider for three days?”

“What?!” His family exclaimed in shock.

“Very well.” Magnus left.

“Wait, Mr. Magnus!” Jessica called. “Please leave your contact information!”

Magnus nodded, Blake gave Jessica the details, and they left.

“Sebastian Oatley, you coward!” Jennifer raged. “Is money more important than avenging your son?”

Sebastian snorted. “A woman’s perspective!” He left. Jennifer and the children were clueless, but he knew Magnus's intentions. They were pawns to be used against the Quillens, then discarded. He was driven by profit, but he knew business relationships were fickle without strong connections. He doubted the Quillens would collapse easily. Angering them could be catastrophic.

“Mom, what should we do now?” Jaxton frantically asked, regretting his actions.

“What else can we do? With a cowardly father like yours? Only if he dies!” Jennifer said angrily.

Chapter 336

Jaxton had a plan. He couldn’t lead the company and had been suppressed at home. The only way he could gain control was if his father died, but Sebastian was healthy. Neither mother nor son anticipated the news they'd receive within half an hour.

“This is the Yeringham Traffic Police. Is this Jennifer Burke, wife of Sebastian Oatley?”

“Huh? Yes, that’s me!” Jennifer’s heart sank.

“Mr. Sebastian Oatley was in a car accident on Yeringham Outer Ring Road 3. He collided with a truck and is dead.”

“W-What?!” Jennifer dropped her phone. Jessica covered her mouth, crying. Jaxton felt pain and complexity; he wanted to lead the family, but not like this.

At the accident scene, a black Corolla drove past.

Blake sighed. “The Oatley guy died tragically. He wouldn’t have died if he’d agreed to you.”

Magnus smiled bitterly. “What does it have to do with me? You know I didn’t lay a hand.”

Blake laughed. “Don’t act coy. You let Verkade leave early, anticipating Sebastian’s refusal, right? Now he’s dead, his son will be your pawn!”

Magnus smiled bitterly. “You make me sound like the son of a devil!”

Blake guffawed. “You’re not the son of a devil; you are the devil! But don’t drag your father down with you. He’s much kinder than you!”

Magnus smiled silently.

Emmanuel drove Roselynn to Cloudscape Mall to check the clothing store he’d acquired for her. The facilities were decent, the suppliers reliable, but management was lacking. Roselynn was confident she could turn it around.

“Manny, where did you get the money?” Roselynn asked.

Emmanuel’s phone rang. It was Sage.

“Hey, Emmanuel! Your sister’s father-in-law is Sebastian Oatley, right?”

“That’s right. Why?” Emmanuel asked, sensing something ominous.

“He had an accident on Yeringham Outer Ring Road 3…”

Roselynn noticed Emmanuel’s change in expression. “Manny, what happened?”

Emmanuel said, “Your father-in-law, Sebastian, had a car accident. He’s dead.”

“What?!” Roselynn was shocked. Weren’t they nearby?

Chapter 337

Emmanuel drove to Yeringham Outer Ring Road 3. The area was cordoned off. A car and truck had collided; the car was severely damaged. Sebastian’s body lay on a stretcher, covered.

Roselynn pushed through the crowd to Sebastian’s side.

“Hey, who are you? Don’t disturb the accident scene!” A traffic police officer shouted.

“We’re relatives of the deceased. She’s his daughter-in-law,” Emmanuel explained.

Roselynn lifted the sheet, seeing Sebastian’s mangled body. Tears streamed down her face. She despised the Oatleys, but she tolerated Sebastian.

“Dad!” Jaxton and his family arrived.

“Roselynn Lowe, you wicked woman! Why are you here? Did you kill my father?” Jaxton grabbed her collar, shouting.

The crowd was astonished. The accident was under investigation, but Jaxton’s words could turn it into a murder case.

“Jaxton Oatley, let go of me! Don’t spread baseless accusations!” Roselynn tried to break free. Jaxton raised his fist.

Jennifer and Jessica watched with satisfaction.

But Emmanuel blocked the punch, grasped Jaxton’s wrist, and pushed him to the ground.

“Don’t spread baseless accusations, or we’ll sue you for defamation!” Emmanuel said firmly.

Jaxton glared. “Just you wait! You must’ve caused the accident! I’m calling the police!” Jennifer took out her phone.

“Come on, Manny, let’s go.” Roselynn said, disgusted.

“Go? You want to leave just like that?” Jaxton impeded them. Emmanuel shielded his sister. “I advise you to be mindful of your actions or bear the consequences!”

More onlookers gathered.

Chapter 338

“Be mindful of my actions? Bear the consequences? Ha! What worse consequences can there be given my current state?! If you all are so capable, go ahead and kill me in front of all these people! Come on!” Jaxton threw caution to the wind.

Emmanuel couldn’t initiate a fight. Jaxton pointed at bloodstains on his crotch and shouted, “Do you all see this?! I accidentally married a she-devil who lives off my family and castrated her own husband with scissors! This woman is pure evil!”

The crowd was in an uproar. Reporters were present. They’d hit the jackpot!

“That’s right, my son is telling the truth. This woman is Roselynn Lowe! Investigate!” Jennifer said.

People gossiped about Roselynn. Some pointed at Jaxton and his mother, but they didn't care.

“I advise you to stop, or you’ll be sued!” Emmanuel said angrily.

“Come on, Manny. Forget it. Let’s go.” Roselynn said, feeling nauseous.

Emmanuel said, “A lawyer will contact you soon. My sister wants to divorce you and sue you for defamation!”

“Ha! Come at me then! Let’s see who will be the one with a tarnished reputation in the end! My family is now in ruins, no thanks to you, with no descendants left! Do you think I’m still afraid of you?! I, Jaxton Oatley, have nothing to fear anymore!” Jaxton yelled.

The crowd took photos and videos. Emmanuel shielded Roselynn and drove away.

“Sis, have you thought about telling Mom about the Oatley family’s situation?” Emmanuel said, worried about their mother.

“Take me home now, please, Manny. I’ll talk to Mom,” Roselynn sighed.

Before they reached home, Alessandra called.

“Roselynn, I… I received some bad news. They say your father-in-law died in a car accident, and… and the things between you and Jaxton… are they true?” Alessandra’s voice trembled.

Roselynn comforted her, crying. “Mom, don’t listen to those rumors. I’m fine! I’ll handle everything!”

Alessandra also cried. She knew her daughter was strong; this crying meant she was deeply stressed.

Chapter 339

In the evening, Mackenzie received a call from Emmanuel.

“Mackenzie, my mom fainted. I can’t pick you up tonight!”

“What happened? Is she okay?” Mackenzie asked.

“It’s nothing serious, just weakness. She has a history of kidney stones, and she fainted from stress. She’s getting dialysis and detoxification; she’ll be fine after a few days of rest.”

“Alright, take care of her. I’ll visit her tomorrow.” Mackenzie said, already knowing everything.

Sebastian's death, Jaxton's assault, and the castration rumors were causing a huge commotion. Alessandra, hearing this, would be overwhelmed.

Emmanuel took Alessandra and Roselynn to the hospital. They found their mother collapsed at home. Emmanuel performed chest compressions, then took her to the hospital. He asked Rhea for help.

“Don’t worry, Emmanuel. I’ll take good care of your mother.” Rhea said.

Emmanuel thanked Rhea when Ashton and her associates arrived. Emmanuel wasn’t surprised.

“Emmanuel and Roselynn Lowe, you are suspected of being involved in a murder case related to a car accident. Please come with us!” Ashton said.

“You again?” Roselynn said, agitated.

“Well, my dear brother, you’re absolutely right!” Roselynn said. “Let’s go.”

Ashton was displeased with their attitude. She had promised Sage not to use physical coercion or handcuffs before conviction.

The siblings arrived in a small room. Ashton had a tablet.

Chapter 340

“The deceased family accused you of premeditated murder. Please explain why you were present at the scene of the accident.” Ashton said.

Roselynn chuckled, but Emmanuel patted her hand, signaling her to let him handle it.

“Miss Ashton, may I ask your purpose in handling this case?” Emmanuel asked.

Ashton was exasperated. “Hmph, isn’t that obvious? To bring the culprit to justice, of course!”

“But I can’t help feeling you have a strong personal bias.” Emmanuel said.

“W-What do you mean by that? Are you implying that I’m trying to force you to confess and make you take the blame?” Ashton stood up, glaring.

Emmanuel remained silent, while Roselynn laughed.

“What are you laughing at?” Ashton asked.

“Hehe, you’re quite cute, Miss Ashton.” Roselynn laughed. “You and my brother are truly a pair of love-hate enemies. If Manny didn’t have a wife and you were not inferior to her, I would’ve tried to match you two up.”

Ashton’s face turned red.

“Alright, Miss Ashton, if you want to solve the case, please be a bit more professional.” Emmanuel said. “If you really have a personal bias and want us to suffer, I can simply say we were coincidentally pa*ssing by, and then you’ll have no choice but to release us!”

Ashton clenched her teeth. She had no evidence.

“If you’re determined to solve the case, I can provide you with a crucial clue, but you must correct your attitude,” Emmanuel said.

Ashton was furious but needed to solve the case. She forced a smile. “Alright, Mr. Lowe, what clue do you have to offer?”

“Hehe, your smile is pretty ugly, Miss Ashton. Personally, I think you look better when you’re cold-hearted.” Roselynn teased.

Ashton’s smile disappeared.

“Fine, I’ll tell you when you’ve smiled this once.” Emmanuel said. “The right rear tire of Sebastian Oatley’s vehicle was tampered with. His car had a sudden tire blowout and lost control halfway, which was no coincidence.”

“What?!” Both women exclaimed. Ashton was surprised. How did he know? Could he be the culprit?
