Anna and her friends spotted Queenie at the entrance. "Ms. Leavey!" Anna exclaimed, "The conference started! Why are you here?"
Queenieโs face flushed. Sheโd promised photos, but Hayden hadnโt waited. "Somethingโฆ came up," she stammered, turning to leave.
Anna, puzzled, followed. Shirley whispered to Monica, "She needs an invitation."
Queenie, overhearing, hailed a cab. Anna grabbed her arm. "Ms. Leavey, I can take you!"
"No," Queenie snapped.
Monica chimed in, "At least return Anna's dress!"
Queenieโs face darkened. "How much is it? Iโll buy it!"
Shirley scoffed. "It's a limited edition! Anna waited ages for it."
Anna frowned. "You don't have an invitation?"
Queenie's frustration boiled over. "My husband and I were invited! He went in, but we argued."
Shirley sneered, "Oh, so you're divorced? Still calling him your husband?"
Anna's excitement evaporated. This woman hadn't even had an invitation; she was just trying to see her ex-husband! Her patience snapped. She grabbed Queenie, heading for the car.
Queenie struggled. "What do you want?! Let go!"
"I'm taking you back! Return my dress and accessories!"
Shirley and Monica smirked.
Queenie threw off Annaโs hand. "Itโs just a dress! Get another one!" She stormed into a nearby shop, changed, and tossed Annaโs dress back.
Anna, furious, caught the dress, handed it to Monica, and slapped Queenie. Queenie stared, stunned. Anna then took back her jewelry.
Queenie lunged, but Shirley restrained her.
