Chapter 64
Given Janet's current status, she would choose a good script, preferably female-centered, to secure her position in showbiz. However, obtaining a good script wasn't easy. Before securing a role suitable for her post-partum comeback, she needed to increase her visibility while maintaining popularity.
"Reverse Days" was a good option. It was a hot, big-budget production. A guest appearance wouldn't diminish her status; instead, it would leverage the show's publicity to maintain her popularity. Furthermore, her guest appearance was strategically linked to Rebecca.
Charlie intended to use "Reverse Days" to boost Rebecca's screen time and fan base, but Janet aimed to prevent this. Confident in her status as a top actress, she believed that even a guest appearance would ensure she, not Rebecca, remained the focus of online discussion. Without trending topics, Rebecca's ambitions would be futile.
Joe Folbre, the director of "Reverse Days," received a call from Lisa. Stunned to learn Janet wanted a free guest appearance, he was quickly surprised. Her presence guaranteed trending topics, popularity, and increased traffic—opportunities no one would refuse. Moreover, the appearance was free. Joe immediately began negotiating with Lisa to secure Janet a guest role.
Half a month later, "Reverse Days" began filming. Despite having limited scenes, Rebecca, accompanied by Charlie and her children, arrived early on set. She hoped to learn from other actors and gain experience.
Their good mood evaporated upon seeing Janet. Janet, however, approached them with a bright smile. "Chuck, Becky, you're finally here! I've been waiting." Charlie noticed a woman secretly recording a video.
He calmly demanded, "Give me the phone," ordering her to delete the footage. The staff member panicked. Charlie insisted on checking the album to ensure deletion. Janet watched with a sullen expression, having arranged for the photos' eventual release. Charlie's sharp eye foiled her plan.
Joe, aware of the situation, sternly questioned the staff member about her team affiliation. The panicked staff member stammered an apology. Joe, unmoved, cited crew rules against unauthorized photos, dismissing her. Just as the staff member looked to Janet for help, Janet intervened, declaring her hatred of such behavior and ordering the staff member's dismissal.
After this, Joe cheerfully greeted Charlie and Janet, inviting them inside. Noticing Charlie's attention on Rebecca, Joe complimented her suitability for the younger sister's role. Rebecca thanked him nervously.
Their focus shifted to filming. The makeup artist took Charlie to the male lead's dressing room. Rebecca followed, curious about the process. Charlie settled Rebecca and had his assistant bring her warm milk, advising her to relax until her scenes.
In the adjacent dressing room, Janet messaged Theodore, informing him of her encounter with Charlie and Rebecca on set. Theodore's reply—unprecedented—excited her. A bright smile blossomed on her face as she responded, asking if he'd visit. She excitedly prepared, urging the makeup artist for her best look.
Chapter 64 (continued)
A bright smile appeared on Janet's delicate face, and she continued to send a message happily: [I'm now at Aotori shooting base. Are you going to come over to visit me, Theodore?] After sending this message, Janet suddenly sat up, carefully looked at herself in the mirror, and then turned to urge the makeup artist, "Put on me the best makeup. I must be beautiful!" Theodore would come. She wanted to meet him in her most beautiful appearance.
