Chapter 65
The makeup artist spent an hour applying makeup to Charlie. When he emerged from the dressing room, the waiting staff were ready.
"Can we start?" Joe asked Charlie with a smile.
Charlie nodded. "Yeah."
Joe grinned and shouted, "Get ready and start filming!"
Charlie went onstage and began acting. The scene depicted a scarred young man, cast out by his family, who encountered and fought a wild beast, narrowly escaping death.
The scenes were shot against green screens; only Charlie performed onstage. He was serious and immediately immersed himself in the role.
Rebecca watched from the side, holding her breath nervously. She observed Charlie's acting style, recalling his previous instruction on finding the camera during filming.
Charlie was an excellent actor. He completed many scenes without needing retakes. Even Joe was surprised, grinning throughout.
Charlie finished three scenes flawlessly. Joe was overjoyed, smiling with satisfaction.
"Chuck, you're in great form today. You're perfect for the role of Quentin Burg!" Joe laughed.
Charlie descended from the stage, a bright smile on his face. "I think so!"
Joe laughed again, clearly delighted. Rebecca handed Charlie a bottle of water. He glanced at her, then took the water, unscrewed the cap, and drank.
News of Theodore's visit to Janet spread as everyone took a break for lunch. A group of waiters brought in numerous lunch boxes. Janet smiled, "Hey, everyone, come and get lunch. Mr. Edwards is treating us today." Those receiving crew lunches abandoned their own meals and excitedly rushed towards Janet.
Chapter 63
Rebecca and Charlie turned and saw Janet and Theodore. Theodore stood beside Janet, but stared at Rebecca with a murderous look.
"Bah, that bastard. It's just a meal," Charlie snorted disdainfully. "Becky, let's go. I'll take you to a feast!" He pulled Rebecca away.
Rebecca worried Theodore might cause trouble, as he had during their last variety show filming. Fortunately, they reached the outside without being followed.
Unexpectedly, upon their return from lunch, Joe announced that the Edwards Group had invested $20 million in "Reverse Days," becoming the largest investor. Joe, beaming, accompanied Theodore.
Charlie angrily retorted, "I'll invest $40 million!"
Rebecca stared at Charlie anxiously. Debra quickly took Rebecca's hand, whispering, "Don't worry." Forty million dollars was a small sum for the Carter family; if the Edwards family could invest, so could they.
Joe was stunned, blinking in disbelief at Charlie. Theodore was shocked, staring at Charlie. He had just spent $40 million on a woman! A married woman!
Theodore considered this, looking again at Rebecca. His sneer turned contemptuous. Rebecca is really something, he thought. She could make Charlie spend $40 million to defend her. No wonder she dares to think of marrying him after divorcing me.
"Mr. Carter, may we speak privately?" Theodore quickly shifted his gaze from Rebecca, adopting his usual cold expression before addressing Charlie indifferently.

Chapter 65
Charlie looked at Theodore. A cold light seemed to flash between them.
"Okay," Charlie readily agreed.
"Dear broโฆ Don't be impulsive!" Rebecca anxiously almost called Charlie "brother" in front of Theodore, but checked herself, quickly urging him not to be impulsive. Charlie looked at her with a doting expression. "It's okay. You should trust me."
Rebecca remained silent. Theodore felt inexplicably disgusted by their interaction.
Charlie and Theodore went to an empty corner.
"Mr. Carter, Rebecca is married with children. Is this appropriate?" Theodore asked coldly and calmly.
Charlie smiled. "Aren't you married with a child? You and Janet even have an illegitimate child. Do you find that appropriate, Mr. Edwards?"
Theodore frowned, his face colder. "It's none of your business."
Charlie sneered. "None of my business? Mr. Edwards, you have double standards!"
"Charlie, with your means, you could easily find a better woman. Why cling to a married one? Rebecca has nothing but a pretty face. If you like beautiful women, I can introduce you to several."
Theodore spoke coldly, a chilling presence emanating from him. He suppressed his anger, trying to remain calm. The Carter family was powerful; the Edwards family preferred not to antagonize them unless absolutely necessary. With anyone else, Theodore would have used ruthless measures to ensure regret.
"Bah!"
Charlie spat on Theodore's face.
Theodore's eyes widened in shock. Charlie had spat on him?
Chapter 65
What's wrong with the Carter family? Why do they all spit in people's faces? Theodore had intended a peaceful resolution, but his anger was overwhelming. Rebecca's habit of spitting might not be from her parents, but from Charlie, right? Bitch!
"I'm afraid I'll disappoint you, Mr. Edwards. My family doesn't tolerate trifling with women. If there's nothing else, I'll be going. Oh, and Mr. Edwards, if you have time, I suggest you divorce Beckyโget the divorce papers as soon as possible. It will make obtaining a marriage license with Jenny Smith much quicker. Am I right?"
Having said this, Charlie kicked Theodore hard in the buttocks and left.
"Charlie!" Theodore staggered, nearly falling. The humiliation of being kicked in the buttocks was unprecedented. Charlie dared to kick him! The Carter family was incredibly rude and uncivilized.
